Go to www.ssa.gov.

A Social Security number is important because you need it to get a job, collect Social Security benefits and receive some other government services. Many other businesses, such as banks and credit companies, also ask for your number.

If you are a noncitizen living in the United States, you also may need a Social Security number. For more information, see Social Security Numbers For Noncitizens (Publication No. 05-10096). If you are temporarily in the United States to work, see Foreign Workers and Social Security Numbers (Publication No. 05-10107).

I have a couple I can spare. Bank One ran an advertisement once with my cell phone number instead of their number. I got annoyed with all of the calls. I'd answer the phone, hello? Then someone would say Is this Bank One? When people would fight with me about me not knowing the correct number or telling me that I am wrong and that I was Bank One, I said Please hold. Then I'd get back on the phone and started asking for their names, phone numbers, addresses, social security numbers and all that stuff. If you really need one, you can have one. I just use them for credit card applications.

This is hard to answer because it depends on whether you are a U.S. citizen. If you are a U.S. citizen all you will need to do is go to your nearest Social Security office and apply. First, you may want to look in your local phone book and call to ask the social security office their procedures for applying for a social security card in your state. Calling can save you any unnecessary trips and also check to make sure you have all the correct documents whenever you decide to go and apply.

Well you can download an application from the social security website. www.ssa.gov You need your birth certificate, drivers license, passport or some other form of ID. It's pretty easy. I took the application to the office and was in and out in 20 minutes. They will mail it to you in a couple of weeks.

Your parents should have applied for one when you were born or you should have applied when you were old enough to work if you are already old. Go to SSA.gov and see if they have an application on line but you will need to take ID like birth certificate or naturalization papers and being older it might be harder than it is for an infant.

Go to the corner of 6th and Main street about 10 pM. on a Friday night. Tell someone you're looking for Chico.
When a black SUV pulls up, hand the driver $ 50.00. He will hand you an envelope.
That's all there is to it.
