If you are younger, a ticket of any sort can lead to a very dramatic increase in insurance. If your insurance is through your parents, or you are listed as a driver on your parents insurance policy, then yes, their insurance will go up, whenever their insurance policy finds out about it.

Some states do offer to forgive a ticket if you go to traffic school. The state where I live, they don't offer traffic school, but they will reduce the points taken from your license if you admit guilt and pay it within 20 days and don't contest the ticket in court.
