I had ad-aware 2007 scan my computer, and it said that I have 511 critical objects, but it won't let me clean it, unless I buy it....and my computer will close out of the internet, unless I keep restarting it, so I know that there is something going on, definatley. Please help!

AVG Free Addition.
Also consider Browser Hijacker Retaliator it will allow you to restore you MS IE browser to like it was when newly installed. Also you can determine and eliminate any unwanted 'browser helpers' by use of the BHR. Wonderful tool.

So let's see, you have an unsupported os and you want some really good free software. Once Microsoft drops support of the os, most vendors do also.

AVG free antivirus will still run on Windows 98, as will Spybot Search and Destroy. Both of these are ok, and probably all you'll find for your os.

Or take it to an independent shop. They probably keep old software around that can do a good job cleaning your system.

I agree you should use Trend Micro Housecall online scan. I had AVG until they went to Microsoft and I now use Housecall (I dont have XP so I cant use AVG free anymore) Housecall supports all Win OS; go to the site, start your scan and go to bed. when you get up close out, or if your infected, clean and rescan. easy peasy. you can scan your system daily if you want, or you can just scan one file if you need to

Go to Trend Micro, www.crendmicro.com, select home computers, select house call, and run the scan.
