Check out this article published on the Yahoo web site. I asked a question about it before and my question was deleted within five minutes. Apparantly there are some Catholics who can't discuss things like mature responsible adults. They have to falsely report me for violating the terms of Yahoo Answers which I am not doing.
Also, I think it is ridiculous that Yahoo would publish this article on their web site and then not allow me to ask a question about it.
What do you think?

This was all predicted in the Bible by the Apostle Paul.

See First Timothy chapter four, verses 1 to 4:

1The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. 3They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

Its the result, more than 900 years ago, of the RCC forbidding their clergy to get married.

Which is one reason why, according to Cardinal George in Chicago, that about 25% of the Priests in the USA are homoexuals.

Some people are just sexual predators. Some of those people became Catholic priests, others school teachers and protestant clergy, etc. Sexual predators are attracted to professions where they are able to perpetrate their sexual desires. Among the aforementioned group, Catholic priests are by far the least likely to be sexual predators but it happens among all walks of life and all professions.

It is probable that Catholic priests have such a low incidence because of their vow of celibacy which most keep. It is my prayer that this crime be eliminated among clergy and that other ecclesiastical groups move to stop the problem with the Catholic Church as a model and example. I pray that this good comes out of the tragedy.

Pastor Art, you should be aware that the Catholic Church does not forbid anyone to marry and that priestly celibacy is a discipline instead. I am sure that you broke the commandment against bearing false witness in error and did not mean to perpetrate this myth. May the Lord have mercy.

In Christ

Why did it take so long? This has been dragging out for five years. The apology could have come a long time ago even if the financial settlement still needed to be negotiated.

Parishioners must now come to grips with the fact that their tithing will go toward paying this settlement even though they are not the ones who committed the offenses.

Part of the problem is indeed as one parishioner said the fact that priest are forbidden to marry. (1Timothy 4:1-3) Of course that is no excuse for sexual abuse. Nothing is.

Pastor Art is not being truthful. The Baptists have a higher number of abusers than Catholics and Ted Haggerty was a fundamentalist just like Mr. Art.

God I loved your story about the nose ring I couldn't top it if I tried. It was great. $1,500 wow. Sorry I can't answer your question about the priest but I'll give you a star. If you get three reports on a question yahoo don't even check. It is automatically remove. Free labor no one has to check.

According to mental health professionals, this very small group of child molesters would be just as sick or evil whether or not they had become priests.

very possibly it was removed becuase it's been asked over and over and over and over..... this is not only with the preisthood of the Catholic church. pedophilia and child molestation is rampant across America and it's vile & disgusting. the Rcc priests are getting more press by the liberal media due to the rating it will bring. what is more sad is the percentage of priests that have been accused AND convisted is minimal.

The short answer is the type of person that is drawn to that line of work is not in the mainstream. Not that mainstream is everything, but young men with a more "normal" view of women and dating will rarely be drawn to the priesthood.

Remember the quote "With or without religion, evil people would do evil things and good people would do good things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion."

Depriving yourself of something NATURAL leads to acts of the unnatural.

The Bible encourages "men of the cloth" to marry and bear children, most likely because God knew what would happen if celibacy was demanded.

Celibacy is too hard for some of them. It is evident by their behavior.

I think some men became Catholic priests because they felt it would "do away" with their homosexual thoughts and would keep them in a position to "do no wrong".
