What would you recommend concealing... i like the size of the Kel Tec but realize that there isn't really anything comparable size wise. I'm a bigger guy, weight about 250 so comfort is a concern for me. I like the fact that i can carry the Kel Tec in my front pocket in it's pocket holster and it looks like a wallet. I have a Beretta 92FS and a Springfield XD 40cal but neither conceal well. I also want to avoid Sig Sauer prices... a buddy recommened a Kahr PM 9mm with a 3in barrel but those go for about $700-800. Looking for some suggestions.

Look at the KAHR CW9. It is the economy version of KAHR's other guns. They run around $400. They also have the CW40 in .40 S&W

My first CC gun was a .380 and like you I didn't feel it was up to the job. As a backup maybe but not my primary. I made the decision one day when I was shooting targets with a friend. We had a piece of ply wood attached to a big wide dead oak, big hill behind it and nothing for about 5 miles beyond the hill. So no worries about misses. Well out of 4 boxes of ammo winchester, and american eagle. We had problems, we'd go check out the hits and add up the score and we noticed after we were done that some of the bullets were on the ground or sticking just into the surface of the tree behind the ply board. We were about 8 yds back when we fired. If I were you I'd consider kel-tec's 9mm that is just a bit bigger. I'm assuming your kel-tec .380 is the little tiny one, here. Kel-tec has a 9mm that is just a bit bigger than the .380 and it should carry just as easy. Or you might try a Taurus revolver in .38 or .357.

I use a Glock 19, but if you want pocket size, use a subcompact glock such as a Glock 26.

I would definitely not use a very small pocket pistol like your Kel-Tech. These don't have clear sights and the trigger break is a little unreliable.

Don't get the Taurus revolver, either. They're good guns, but you want a clean trigger break instead of a long double-action pull.

You should take the 4-day defensive handgun class at Front Sight in Nevada to learn all this stuff, you'll be amazed at how much you didn't know.

.380 is the smallest caliber recommended by any expert. there are many choices when choosing self defense ammo also.
