I have a question, do you get paid as a medical student. Also, do you need to show SSN. Currently, I am 16 and I'm an illegal immigrant. Hopefully, I'm going to get my citizenship by age 24. Do you think that this will interfere with my studies and will it be possible to speed up the process if I tell the government that I'm about to enter medical school.

I'll tell you now that unless you have a lot of money on hand it will be pretty hard to go through medical school. I think the loans are going to be a big problem with you wanting to be a medical student, not to mention the US would want someone that got permission to come here for the purpose of school (Which I believe you get permission once you apply AND get accepted to a school). IF you get accepted to a medical school you might talk to someone familiar with your situation to see what can be done to benefit you.

I wish the best of luck!
please continue your education

Edit: International students can apply to any college, (illegals don't count as international) but I think because you are illegal if you tried to apply you might be at risk for punishment.

first of all, medical students do NOT get paid. interns and residents get paid, but students don't. and, yes, you need a social security number to apply to college and beyond. you also need all your standardized tests, which all require your social security number, as well.

i'm not sure i understand this... you're 16 and illegal, but have some expectation of becoming legal by age 24. you don't know anything about post-secondary education, or about medicine (if you did, you wouldn't have asked this question) you don't know if being illegal will 'interfere' with your studies? it surely will 'interfere'. and, as far as your idea of telling the govt you are 'about to enter medical school'... that's a fiction. it's not going to happen.... understand me, if you become legal, and work, very, very hard, you MAY enter medical school, however, as an illegal, you don't have a snowball's chance in hell. and, to be honest, you shouldn't. i've had friends who were born here, studied hard, got top grades and top scores, and still had to go to medical school in spain, in england, in the faulkland islands, even in guadalajara. why would you even think that you should get precedence over someone like that, as an illegal? is it just naivete, or is it the overwhelming sense of entitlement that illegals have these days?.. they think that they deserve more than everyone else, and more than those who are legitimate citizens!

You need to be in this country above board and legal, not illegal.

It will not speed anything up because you are aspiring to medical school. All immigrants--legal or illegal--are here because they aspire to something.

After 4 years of college, there are 4 years of medical school. You do NOT get paid until that is over and then you move into internship, residency etc. where you get paid not too much.

And you are the same person who posted some hateful things about the USA yesterday (like below), so don't expect a lot of warm fuzzys here.

1] sorry, medical students don't get paid
2] some students get in from overseas - I doubt you will if they find out you are an illegal alien
3] you can't enter medical school until after you get your bachelor's degree - which will be about age 22.
Therefore, you can't tell them you are about to enter med school. They really don't take that into consideration.
YOU ARE NOT A MEDICAL STUDENT UNTIL YOU ARE IN THE SCHOOL!

I'm not even sure you'd be able to become a citizen if you are an illegal immigrant in the first place
