A person can be misleading which is as bad as lying. I do it to test other peoples intelligence whether I know the answer or not, I like people that can think for themselves.

One cannot lie without knowing what is true or shall we say correct in your experience. So how did the word and the concept get into our language? Lies don't change truth for truth cannot be changed.

Your argument is really about size!!!? For example, there is no one yet who can tell a lie about how the universe functions because nobody knows. Thus they cannot lie.

Now let's dumb it down to the cookie jar we had our hand in last night!! The truth will forever be that we had our hand in the jar. To lie when mom asks, is just to distort what matches our experience.

Every lie proves we have a handle on all or part of the truth. If you don't know you are off the hook; but God gave laws and said that creation declares his handiwork. Those who reject what they see and hear cannot claim to be ignorant of the truth.

Even courts hold that ignorance is no excuse of the law.

A person can lie if they know even the slightest bit of truth, all lies have a little bit of truth in its core, beyond that everything else is formed. Its easy to lie if you know abit of truth.

A truly humble person knows that there is a lot unknown in this world. You can have a point of view but you need to own it--claiming ultimate truth on anything other than your own feelings and what can be proven (e.g., 1+1=2, no matter how fervently I may "believe" it equals 4) is problematic.

Hello and this is just my input for what its worth, lets first figure out what is the truth first in John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, THE TRUTH, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. also "all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God" and that also includes Lies, If you know Jesus you know all the truth you need if you do not then what other truth you may know won't matter. The truth you really "need" to know IF you know Jesus He will via His Holy Bible and His Holy Spirit point out truth to you and will power you to keep it, IF you do not know or obey Him cause you love Him what ever truth you keep or do not keep won't matter, after all we are walking in a open grave and are as good as dead, a dead person needs Jesus and IF you have Jesus you will live and not worry about telling lies cause Jesus will guide you unto ALL truth and you will live forever other wise it will not matter. If somebody says something which they think to be false it's a lie. Unless it happens to be true but they didn't know that. In that case the person thought he was lying. I guess that's like "attempted lying" which is almost as bad but not completely.

If you know that what you're saying is not the truth for a fact, then you know that what you're saying is not true therefore it's a lie.

You can say you KNOW the Truth!

In religion, that's not called a "lie", it's called "Faith"!

Are you saying that we are not responsible for knowing the truth?

Depends on what you perceive as a "lie" and what "truth" is. What's "true" for you may not be "truth" as another understands it.
