Because BELIEF is what powers most religions.
When you are indoctrinated to believe that yours is the only way to eternal reward and that deviation from that doctrine means no reward, most will simply close their eyes, drink the Kool-aid, smile and nod.
It makes it easier when you have a book that tells you it is the book of the true religion, and all others are the works of "Satan"

Christ did a lot when you think about it. Not only did he teach, but he also fed the people following him and even healed the sick. (Can you imagine how busy he must have been?) Christ cared for his disciples and his followers like a father watching over his children. He made sure they understood everything he taught, and even encouraged his own disciples to ask questions. He was not only a teacher but more.
Due respect, I don't know too much about Buddhism, but my mother was one. She switched over.

wow I doubt that people on other continents spend so much free time quibling about this like we do
apparently we have too much free time and make up stories about truth and enlightenment as entertainment
given circumstances of others wrapped up in thier own worlds, I think a life without the trifles of religion is becoming more and more attractive

Don't know what you're talking about, but I'm a Greek Polytheist and I hate it when people think their religion is better than mine just because it's one of the oldest religions out there.

Because we believe Jesus Christ, who is the God we worship, is the Word. It is this unity, between God and His word, that makes Christianity unique from other religions.
Christian Apologist Ravi Zacharias said this about prophets of other religions: "They are teachers who point to their teaching or show some particular way. In all of these, there emerges an instruction, a way of living. It is not Zoroaster to whom you turn. It is Zoroaster to whom you listen… By contrast, Jesus did not only teach or expound His message. He was identical with His message. He said, 'I am the truth.'"
Jesus Christ is unique in that He said, "Follow me." Other religions (including twisted versions of Christianity) say, "Follow the teachings." Christ not only set the standard by which all His followers should live, He continues to fulfill it in them by the work of His Spirit. For a Christian, we are able to obey Christ's teachings because the Spirit of Christ lives within us. It is not I who fulfills the Word, it is Christ in me.

because it makes them feel good.. its emotion.. faith is emotion...
Jesus and God are like Santa Claus... the thought of him being real makes me smile and makes me feel are warm and cozy.. but we all know he doesn't.. some people just cannot let go of a false truth.. and live in denial... for their mental and emotional stability.. they cannot handle thinking about there not being a god.. and what happens after this life... they need it.. I say.. thats fine.. and I respect that.. just don't knock on my door and preach on my streets.. or I'll throw water baloons at your head..
cheers

I follow the Christian faith because it suits me, it's what I believe in. But I'm not so high and mighty that I don't realize that religion and even the bible itself is up to interpretation. I know Jesus exists, because I've felt him in my home and I believe in his father God. But you will never see me shunning someone else for believing differently.

Because God tells us that it is so.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
You can believe it or not believe it, but it is still the truth. I'm not sure which Buddha you're referring to. If you mean Siddhartha Gautama, he had a chance to accept Christ on Jesus's death, (since he died before Christ's sacrifice). Being an obviously bright individual, I would guess that he accepted Christ's sacrificial death.
Siddhartha's ideas are interesting, but just the ideas of a man who died.

My reason lies first in my relationship with Christ, something no other religion can offer. But most people don't except that, it works for me personally though.
I tend to turn to what is called the transcendental argument for the existence of the Christian God when explaining my reasons to none Christians.
It is one that takes more than Yahoo Answers to get across but it boils down to this. Every world view has logical limits it is constrained to. FOr example Buddha had no God to believe in. If I where to ask a follower to tell me how in their world view they can account for logic they could not do so. because they could only use logic to argue for logic. THe Christian view however can account for logic because it is a reflection of God himself, we are made in his image thus we can use logic. to explain this properly here I cant do. But you can look into it for your self if you like. read some articles of Greg Bahnsen, John Frame, Van till...... and it will explain this line of reasoning. It boils down to this. No other world view can sustain its self with out falling apart in reasoning. The Christian world View can sustain it self. Its a long and hard study but I feel it is the strongest evidence for the Christian God there is. It leaves out the five senses and brings it to the mind and the heart.
