"English" is pretty versatile...You can be formal "hello", "How are you"\Who do you do?"...or more casual, as in "hi", "what's up", "How are you doin"?, or more "international" in nature Choose your language)...all will be recognized. If you run up against a somewhat aloof respondent, simply let it go and recognize that recipient probably as some sort of issue or phobia that has absolutely nothing to do with you or your offer of greeting. How sad for them! Blessings...

I just saw you "addition." So I edit my response here...When parting one would say "Good By", "Take Care", "God be with you", "Bye", "See you soon!" or,again, any parting 'wish' or 'thought' that is comfortable and natural to You! (in whatever language.)

You can say hello, hi, what's up, how's it going...

Regarding your updated information.. in that instance, you would say "Good bye, I will see you soon" or "See you later", or "Take care, see you soon"... Don't use Hello when you are leaving. You only use hello when you first greet someone.
