Yes it is. we are to be Christ-centered not self-centered.
A life that is centered on Christ is more fulling in the long run, then one were we live only for our self.
Here is a good way to prioritize it
#1 is Christ
#2 is your Family
#3 is yourself

Self-centredness is evil, since it's not loving towards others. Anything that isn't loving, is going astray, so it's sinful, yes.

It's certainly not going to gain you much benefit if you are. Altruism is going to give you more happiness if you ultimately want to experience it yourself... just by giving it away and thinking of others first, you benefit by default. Pretty cool huh?
