I always want to self learn acoustic guitar but have no knowledge and experiences. I want to start with buying a guitar range less than $200. I found a website but have no idea which one is suitable for a beginner like me.

This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship for you and the guitar you choose.

Guitar Player magazine once did a review of acoustics and they loved the low end Fender acoustics. Most of these are a bit more then $200.

If you can, try to find an acoustic with a SOLID TOP. If the ad does not say solid top, you may want to reconsider? A solid top will age gracefully and even improve with age. The Washburn D10S is also a nice guitar. Look at the star ratings 4 1/2...not bad for a solid top in this price range.

As far as lessons, books and web sites for beginners?

GPTV has some great lessons...free! Also..get a subscription to a guitar mag..like guitar Player or Guitar World...this keeps the interest up each month. Find others to play with...you'll improve 10 X's as fast then staying alone in your room and practicing.

Finally....record yourself playing/singing/practicing. Great learning tool.

Good luck and practice till those fingers bleed! Haha

There are plenty of acoustic guitars for under $200 that would be suitable for a beginner. I wouldn't buy one online, though. You need to feel the guitar, paying special attention to the height of the strings off the fingerboard. Your fingers will be a little sore at the beginning even with a well adjusted guitar, but if the strings are too high it will be a problem for a lot longer. I would advise that you take an experienced player with you to help you pick out a good guitar. There are a lot of beginner books and videos you'd find helpful. If you happen to use Netflix, you can rent a number of different ones to get tips from different teachers. There are also online resources. Good luck!

DO NOT buy from a website. Get names & details, but go to ur local music shop & see what is available. if u have a friend who plays, take them along. If not, get the assistant to demonstrate some for u. Listen to the sound they make. Is it what u want?. Hold it, and see how it feels. Try pressing the strings against the fingerboard. Is it fairly easy to do. Make sure that there are no buzzes or rattles. Also look in the shop for tutor books. It depends what type of music u want to play, so see what appeals. Hope this helps

I would not buy a guitar online. The best way to pick one out is to go to a music store and have one of the staff play different guitars you might be interested in to get a feel for the sound you are looking for.

try before you buy! need to makes sure it sounds good. and also that it feels right. if you have any friends that play ask them to go in with you. ask them for their opinion of the guitar. as far as learning to play, DVD are probably a better place to start. because there are something that are better seen than told. or if you again, if you have a friend that plays they can teach you the basic.
