You can be hit by a train and your belief in the train is irrelevant. However truth is more likely discovered when you have no predisposed ideas about what you will find.
Recently an archaeologist in Israel came out with a paper saying there was not imperial evidence of a King David or Solomon, and that probably the old testament was made up about 300 years before Christ. I have no idea whether he is correct but would say much of what we all perceive to be a truth, and believe is based on what someone else tell us and may all be total bunk.
Would God care if you know the truth? Did he Dump you in the middle of chaos, give you a nano second in the concept of eternity to figure it out, and punish you if you flunk??
There is a school of thought I hold to that we create our own reality, and bring into our lives only what we expect. But what I have personally come to believe is that if you are asking, the Intelligence behind the universe will answer at the level you are able to hear. When you hear it it you will feel it in your gut.
and you won't give a rip is anybody else thinks so.

I don't think any fact or result can be had without belief. One must at least consider the possibility that an idea or a concept will produce something , and be willing to act upon it, in order to prove or disprove anything.
I also think that belief must be the basis for discovering a universal definition for truth. I place the word truth somewhat akin to, but exceeding, a unified field theory; the summary answer to the mental, emotional and physical condition of man. Until that time, the man ,Jesus Christ, remains my definition of truth.

There is no truth without belief in absolute proof and not contradictory books on the same theme of religion. If there is belief in one God there must be belief in many Gods. Believe in them all and perhaps they will provide and show you the truth.

You approach with an open mind - the same way they discovered the earth was round.
Do you approach all claims by thinking "this is probably true?" Not just "god" but unicorns, the loch ness monster and midicholorians?
