Here's the answer based on my perspective as an Atheist: If God is as forgiving and knowledgeable as everyone says he is, then the music you listen to shouldn't have any bearing on his decision to let you into heaven. In reality there are more important things or him to care about than what one individuals musical preferences are, such as the Genocide in Rwanda, rape, and other ungodly acts performed by humans on a daily basis.

It is a fact of life that whatever a person allows to occupy his mind will sooner or later determine his speech and his action. This is the premise behind Philippians 4:8 and Colossians 3:2,5: establishing wholesome thought patterns. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says we "take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ." This is how we allow Jesus to be "the Lord of our lives". That gives us a pretty clear picture of the kind of music we SHOULDN'T listen to.
Obviously, the best kind of music we can listen to is that which praises and glorifies God. There are a lot of Christian musicians and singers out there, spanning nearly every genre available to the secular market. From there, it is a matter of taste. There is nothing inherently wrong any particular style of music. But if secular music leads you to think about, or get involved in something that does not glorify God – then you should avoid it.

Sadly all the good music is like that. There are some Christian bands that can be an alternative to that. I do think that after a while the music will take control of you as in become part of your lifestyle and you will think it wiil be ok to do stuff that the song is portraying.

We were all born in sin because of man's fall in the garden of Eden. If you are Christian, then Jesus Christ lives in you. Only Christ is able to overcome sin. He is the Victor over Satan, sin and death, and all negative things in the universe. As long as you do not have a close relationship to Him, and follow Him in everything, sin will tempt you away from real enjoyment, because sin is our makeup by default. Christ is so wonderful that when you are truly enjoying Him, you won't want any replacement or substitute. He is the top enjoyment. When you received Him, He came into your spirit as a little seed. He wants to spread and grow in you. You must water and nurture the seed so it can grow by reading and praying His Word. As you walk with and enjoy the Lord, He will be growing and spreading in you, overcoming the sin in you, and the sins that used to bother you. Sin is not something you can deal with or conquer. Even if you decide not to sin, you will sin more. Only our Lord Jesus Christ can overcome sin.

Use this as a rule of thumb when listening to secular music...whatever one feeds on consistently, will eventually feed on them. I am a Christian drummer and do not believe that chords, tempos or rhythms that represent any muscial composition are inherently evil...the minds and hearts that compose and present any genre of music are often times
a clue, however, as to wheather a Christian should expose themselves to it's message.
Very good question...also seek God,in prayer as to the types of music that he may wish for you
to turn from. This question is not as much about receving eternal judgement for listening to a wrong type of music...but rather, what is it doing to your spiritual life?...Seek God,for his perfect will...he will answer.

Well as a fellow christian i admire your honesty and quest for knowledge.Music is from God given to us as a form of worship so when we go to services and sing praises we are worshiping God.Now there is a lot of neat sounding music out there that catches our ear.And as Christians we have to be carful of what we let influence our minds because The enemy wants control of our mind.why do you think that God continually asks his people to study His word to write them on the walls and to sing praises through out the day.Because through that repetition it changes our heart and we come to believe what we are saying .So in your favorite songs who or what are you giving praise to?Is it godly or worldly? is it something you are going to be able to sing when you stand before the Lord and be acceptable in His sight.i believe you already have your answer if you carry Gods spirit or you would not feel any conviction on this subject.
And by the way not all worldly music is bad.but if its giving praise to sex outside of what God intended then it cant be good for your mind and can help influence you to make bad choices.
God Bless you and i hope this answers your question

well let me say first pray. and ask God to show you. i dont know what those songs are. i listen to nothing but christian. i listen to all types as long as christian. rap i love rap. and many will say that is wrong however the cd i have is christian and it is just the beat. my favorite song i love is let it rain by michael smith. but again i cant tell you what is wrong to listen to or not. God will convict you if it is wrong. again i am not convicted of the songs i listen to now. but some people will say some are wrong. my pastor used to love music that was of rock. and other types like metalica or however you spell it. so for himself he wont listen to anything that sounds like that kind or music at all. even if christian. just his conviction. kinda like if you once drank a lot and would go out partying. you should not put yourself in that situation were you can get tempted to do it again and should stay away from a bar or anything else. i believe we all should period as christians. some things i am convicted of and you are not. that is ok. i say tv is wrong and that is for myself and my family (wife and kids) you may be fine with it.
we are here to do Gods will not ours. we are in this world yes but we are to not be part of worldy things.
pray and seek God for the answere. he will show you. for me when i do listen to something i should not have i feel it in my heart and the Holy Ghost lets me know.
and for as far as hell. that is between you and God. for him to judge you. again we all sin. but the differance for christians is we are to repent. so if you feel it is a sin then you need to repent from it. that is turn away from or do an about face. so if you feel it is a sin then you need to get rid of it. i had many cds, dvds, video games that i got rid of. and man am i happy i did.

Just remember that these things infiltrate our minds and cause problems.
Would you be embarrassed or ashamed to see your parents or pastor listening to that or if they started singing the songs or acting out the music?
But only God sees your heart and if you are questioning this, maybe you are under conviction over it and should try not to listen to it any more.

No you WILL not go to hell for one thing you are struggling with because Christians are sinners. But at the same time you have to ask would I choose the sin over God?

God doesn`t care what kind of music you like. You will NOT go to hell for listening to radical music. take a deep beath
and calm down.
You are not perfect, You will never be perfect. There are no perfect people. Just be the best you , that you can be and leave the rest to him.
