Your final paragraph is very incongruous. If you want to pull obscure quotes and disingenuous comments pull this: Render to Cesare what is Cesare's etc." Slavery was the law, he never preached against the law. It was not that big of a deal back then. It was a very efficient way of getting things done.
Personal freedom is a relatively recent idea and phenomenon. Look it up. You seem to like that. But don't reach so far, you may get a hernia.

Okay First of all, North American Slavery was driven by Greed and perverted entitlement. Apples and oranges.
In biblical times if your husband died or you somehow amounted staggaring debt and had to save yourelf or your children selling yourself into slavery was a viable option. Also, if a war was fought the conquering side was charged with the welfare of the women, children and elderly of the conquered. Economics were A very different thing back then. It actually does survive in much of the world today. The laws that governed slaves and slave owners back then were also a completely differnt nut than what took Place in the West Indies and Colonial America.
Masters were charged with their slaves spiritual well being. If a slave refused to worship make or make a feast in Gods name it could be detrimental to that households Livelihood. This all goes back to Kosher living and those who slaughtered and handled the food (servants). Servant Men and women held a key role in their households.
You don't Need the Bible to take an anthropological look at biblical slavery.
Also, Keep in mind the Christianity that you are so determined to blame for African Colonial Americas Slavery is also the religion of the people who endeavored so hard to set them free, run the underground railroad etc.

"Note the word 'servant' means slave."
Pardon me but, the word slave means servant.
Jesus did not speak out against it for 2 reasons.
In Israel, slaves, or servants were to be well treated.
There were laws on the matter.
Israelite 'slavery' (or servitude) could not be compared to the slavery of other places.
Some 'slaves' were so well treated that when they could get their freedom, they opted to stay.
Plus, Jesus came to preach the Good News of God's Kingdom.
That was his theme and he would not be distracted from theme.
There were all kinds of issues he could have mentioned, but he stuck to theme.
The so-called 'christians' that contributed to american slavery were not christians at all.
They were selfish, ambitious people using the Bible as a pretext.
It wasn't the first time, nor the last.

Do you know that you must serve someone? Who's servant are you?
Did you know that slavery Yahweh's way was an act of love, kindness, and concern for your fellow man? If Slavery Yahweh's way were practiced today there would be no homelessness? Slavery was instituted by Yahweh for people who could not make it on their own for different circumstances. Then it was up to a loving brother of his to take that man, woman, or child into his home and treat him as one of his own family member and provide for all of his basic needs, food, clothing, shelter, and would teach that person character education (spiritual needs), teach him/her a skill so that that person can stand on their own two feet and later on provide for themselves and pay that brother back the kindness shown to them?
If you all would take the time to reconsider Yahweh's laws it would solve all of the problems that the world if having now. Think about it, if everyone was not acting like a selfish bastard and though about his fellow man, we would have no orphanages, it would reduce the prison population because some of our brothers and sisters are incarcerated because they were so desperate to provide for their families that the resorted to thievery.
Satan uses deception to turn the world againt the Laws of Yahweh by presenting an counterfiet way of keep the Laws of Yahweh like we witness here in American with the abomobale way of salvery Satan's way where the only one who benefited was the slave owner.
When you practice Slavery Yahweh's way, the one with the resources actually becomes the servant because he sees to it that his brothers every need is met. And this is what Yahshua practiced and he would have never spoke out against such a loving and thoughfull act of kindness.
Rev 1:1 ¶ The Revelation of Yahshua Messiah, which Yahweh gave unto him, to shew unto his SERVANTS things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his Malak unto his servant Yahchanan.
Mark 10:45
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.

The "servant" was not a slave in the sense you are thinking of. These people were treated with more respect and dignity. And the "master" referred to in this passage is God not Jefferson Davis. Don't try to skew the bible.

well who is to say he didn't speak out against it. The bible is a series of stories passed down for hundreds of years until it was recorded by man. My view of the bible is to take it with a grain of salt. I feel many portions of the bible were altered to fit then, modern standards. One of which would be pro-slavery along with the condement of homosexuals and women in the kitchen. We really won't truely know anything till we meet him.

Jesus, if he ever lived, was a flawed mortal and a product of his time. Slavery was completely accepted 2000 years ago. We know better now. It's called "growth," and it's a good thing.

because he wasnt against it, who do you think those men that followed him where to him? what to you guys call them again? before you believe a book that was written way before any of us were born and with no proof of who really wrote it or how much of it is true and exaggerated why not use your brain in a way GOD intended rather than believe everything you read! ill all about facts show me the facts if you dont have them then stop preaching to me!....i dont care for ignorant people! i have said it over and over again............most people are brainwashed into believing that it happened just as this book says if thats true then why were there 3 ( three) men crucified not just 1 yet only 1 was famed for it and did it ever occur to you that maybe he was punished along 2 other criminals because he himself commited a crime against the people ( oh of course we cant mention his followers) what makes him think its ok to go about causing trouble or turning the people against their leaders? even a president these days would have them assassinated for that THINK for yourself

Jesus was the Messiah to the Jews. His purpose was to draw people's attention to the kingdom of heaven inside themselves. Any social reform was a natural consequence of His ministry, never His mission or focus. He did not come to make this life better, but to motivate us to prepare to meet God.
