If people adhered to the regulations for driving on a motorway, tail gating wouldnt exist.

I don't tailgate any where. Not if I can help it, and I keep to the speed limits, as much as is possible. Like Scouse I hate that too. Some people seem to think that they have a right to break the law, because they have either an expensive or fast car.

I leave a gap of a few seconds...if i sense a tailgater in the distance and i am in lane 2 then i pull in to the slow lane, let them overtake and continue, my attitude is that if they wanna overtake in any situation be it motorway or residential then just let them go, i will arrive in my own time safe and sound, relaxed and enjoyed my drive...thanks

Personally I don't do it and I think the people who do should get on the spot fines because it stops the driver infront concentrating on the road ahead.
It is particularly annoying when you are sticking to the speed limit, built area or otherwise, and some clown tailgates you just because they want to go faster, even though it is illegal and dangerous for them to do so!

The only time I will tailgate is if I am soon to pass by.

No, I am the one going to be killed when the idiots in the SUV tailgate my ride. I just pass the people who go too slow.

i like it when people try to tailgate me on open road.
i put on my racing harness belts and helmet speed up a little
if they speed up with me , i hit brakes
my steel bumper won't give, but it sure messes up their front end
they get a ticket for following too close, and i get a call from their insurance company
the ones without insurance have lost their cars and had to pay fines
