Beautiful question philmeta. If we look at the creationist theory, there was nothing before God then he created all that is. So what exactly would he use to create all that is but himself? If we go on the theory that he is omnipresent, he'd be everywhere including every cell and atom of every person, in every emotion and thought, etc
Anything we create is done so as an expression of ourselves. As above, so below. It only makes sense then that the universe would be the physical expression of God.
I think people see themselves outside God or lesser than God instead of part of God's tapestry of expression for many reasons. Many tend to skim over any parts of the religious texts that actually make mention of this fact. The body as a temple of God, Ye are gods, . . . that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not. . .
The universe is one spectacular body as seen by our limited physical vision. Regardless of our limited sight, we can see that each of us is a part of that universe, however minuscule that part may be.
If we don't exist as individuals and the physical plane is an illusion...is there really a YA forum??? :-D Is there really just one huge cosmic brain trying to untangle knots in its thinking by asking itself questions?

Free will allows the individual to jabber all they want too!
When or if a human has discarded the little tyrant known as the ego, a wonderful event dawns in man.
One actually dies before death.
One comes to the understanding that:
God is within man and man is within God!

Such insights as yours are rare but becoming more common.
As the Gnosis continues more and more people will understand these things as the awakening progresses. Have you noticed that most people that have arrived at this understanding have done so alone? It is as I said before not an intellectual achievement it occurs when our souls become the essence of love. Sadly it cannot be taught only experienced and then only from a hungry heart diligently seeking its noble purpose.
Could this be the beginning of an age of human awakening?

Hu=spirit, man=mass. Spirit in mass. The ego mind of man is the thinker from which we take on our illusional identity; that which we believe we are. We 'think' we are. When we die the ego mind and move into ( a stepping back into) the awareness of this whole show then we let the mind of spirit live fully in the body. AND, we will discover that the 'Awareness' is who we really are. Hence, we are gods and it is our free will to choose which mind we want to spend all our time in. One is heaven, one is heall. Just states of minds; little ego mind or eternal mind of the Living Presence- the one that created ego mind and in which the ego mind dwells. Ego= little self. Oneness= higher self.

Thanks for this question, Phil...you are a brave one! :)
We have labeled everything, haven't we? "God, humans, oneness, ego, mind, self,Self, duality, on and on.
One of my favorite labels is consciousness...it feels airy and free. It doesn't seem to box anybody in...we just all flow together.
I like to think of us like that... a consciousness that takes a multitude of form, all made of the same 'stuff'. Colorful motion.
Constant movement creating intrigue...anything that can come into the imagination seems to eventually take form. Very God-like, eh?
The texture of this greatness is lost in language/labels...in over conceptualization.
The fresh, spontaneity of the child's mind...uncomplicated free has not been individualized/conditioned.
To die from the many years of conditioning..."to die before you die" allows the 'return' of the child...the wizened child. This has been called the "original face" and is as free as the wind...deathless energy!

If that were the case mankind would be much wiser than they are. They would be much more powerful yet loving toward one another since damage to one would be damaging to oneself.
Mankind is no more God than an artist is his sculpture.
"O man, who, then, really are you to be answering back to God? Shall the thing molded say to him that molded it, “Why did you make me this way?” What? Does not the potter have authority over the clay to make from the same lump one vessel for an honorable use, another for a dishonorable use?"__Romans 19:20-21

human beings are God-like. on the grounds that God gave human beings dominion over animals, it somewhat is okay for us to kill and torture them. notwithstanding, they're a source meant for all humanity, so it is not stable to reason the extinction of a species.

Great manifesto again!
Inspired by you, I just remembered a fable of Taoist;
A disciple asked master, "Show me the Tao."
Master answered, " It's in the dung beetle."
The disciple burst out in cry and said "Why, you say so low about the great Tao??"
Master answered, "... (I'm sorry but) It's in the cow dung, too."
So does God! :-)
Just have one "objection" that you said human is not God but the expression of God.
I think human is better than God (Thank goodness so we are better than cow dung :-) ) since we have ego on top of the blessed existence of God~
If we were not here, where God would find fun???

Would you say that we have free choice? Where does this place the individual with regard to God? Do we have individual ego, seperate from the perfect consciousness that is god.

You actually got that right, you can never know oneness with the universe until you vanish just like puff the magic dragon and all that is left is a true expression of universal oneness. Not you and the great integrity just the great integrity which includes you.
