My own include:
1.Human beings are just as much a part of the natural systemic world as anything else, and we influence it only in so far as it influences us.
2.The love of knowledge, discovery and the scientific method will help keep scientists honest and therefore broaden our knowledge base over time.
3.People have an inherrent need to feel both individually successful and interpersonally connected, but these needs are frequently in conflict with one another.

I'm finding very hard to question "why" I have this need to rip apart every belief I've ever had.

that it is not necessary to respect beliefs. Beliefs can be ridiculed and mocked. In fact, they should be. The biggest problem with religions is that they take themselves too seriously.

but don't actually base this on anything. Yeah, Shakespeare perhaps (Lear's Fool). And Woody Allen. Stuff like that. It just feels right, and I know many religious people don't like it. Still, I'll cling to it 'till the day I die. Greyface will not convince me that the world is a serious and orderly place. It is a mess and it is very, very funny. That's why I often have a complete disconnect with people who talk religiously.

Probably my assumption that there is a reason and purpose for every experience we have. The idea of bad things happening randomly with no greater purpose is too difficult for me to accept.

I don't have assumptions per se. I have opinions formed by research and critical reading/understanding. And if contrary evidence should come up, then I will consider that in my opinions.
