without your permission. I think it's rather stupid that CHRISTIAN parents don't let there kids read or see what they want. Why can't they be just kids? How is watching Harry Potter the DEVIL? I think it's rather stupid, and that is the wrong way to be protecting your kids, what J.K Rowling should be doing is making a movie about how kids get eaten and molested by priests. NOW that's a movie.

By the way it isn't real MORONS, I think your children have the knowledge of that, even if they are brainwashed. Summber B, must be retarted. Do your kids think the Smurfs are real too?

I have every right to Question that because there are certain things every kid wants to go see as a kid, and its wrong for other kids to be missing out of the fun, just because of their Christian Parents. You know darn well the kids read about Harry Potter all the time, and probably go see the movie anyways. Christian Parents shelter there kids way too much, in the wrong way. I have every right. It's WRONG

I think it's parents who have no faith in how they raised their kids. If you've raised your kids to believe in something, it doesn't help trying to shield them, rather expose them and then see if they were that imperssionable as you had thought, but parents who just hide the reality of the wolrd thinking that'll fix their bad teachings.... *shakes head*

One: name calling is not called for and demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding.

Two: atheist parents would probably not encourage their kids to watch Christian oriented television...just like vegetarians don't watch hunting shows. Parents have a basic right to limit what their children watch. And despite your protests, no it is not your place to question them.

Three: It is extremely unfortunate that some children have been molested by trusted members of the clergy. A movie making money by exploiting the sensationalism of these events would only serve to make things worse.

Four: Christians are not afraid of Harry Potter. Perhaps before you spout your nonsense you should investigate the facts. Christian parents fully realize that the events of Harry Potter are completely fictional...they are concerned that their young children may not be able to make the same distinction so easily. Not to mention the fact that the latest movie of the series is definitely not aimed at young kids.

Based on what you've written, I'll take a stab that you're only on Y! because you have the time now that Junior High is out for the summer. When you have kids perhaps parental rights will make a little more sense to you.

I am sorry. Which Christians are "afraid" of Harry Potter? I know that in my Master of Theology program, we discussed Harry Potter and how the books brought out the positive traits that should be striven for, not the negative.
As a teacher, I applaud any book that gets children to read.

Priests are NOT the only people preying on young children, and I realize that it is probably easier for you to just dwell on priests to make your point... so be it...
I will not judge you, as you have judged others.

my kids do a lot of things with out my permission, but when it comes to Harry Potter we all enjoy watching the movies together and we are Believers. We own the movies and we enjoy them as soon as we can we will be getting the new to as well, and I don't think nothing of them as anything bad just a movie..

I am a Christian. I've seen all but one of the HP movies and love them. Many of my Christian friends, as well as their children, have as well.

I think your last sentence is pretty stupid. A minority of priests molest children.
As far as I know, NO priest has ever eaten a child.
Provide proof of that, please.

Give a link to the story.
Otherwise, you are blowing smoke.

You are using faulty logic if you assumethat ALL Christians are afraid of HP.

looking forward to that link about priests eating children.....
lol

It depends on the person. Some think JK
uses Medieval Christan Symbols in the book and in
the movie. Others think it is wiccian.

As a Christian I don't see anything wrong with Harry Potter as long as the child is old enough to understand that that is make believe and not real.

i'm a christian.. i'm not opposed to harry potter.

my parents were though... they also wouldn't let me watch sabrina the teenage witch or anything of the sort.. i wasn't allowed to dress as a witch for halloween.. or read about astrology... even just the silly horoscopes in magazines...

i think its an irrational fear... something to focus their attention on... some sort of a cause to cling to
