Well I joined not to long ago. What I want is to become a IT man. Well that has a top secret security clearence but I can't get it cause of my dad not being born here. I also am off 6 points on the ASVAB (i got a 61). My recruiter said that I might be able to change rattings. So how do you think I should go about changing what I am right now(OS) to IT man. How would I do that?

Look it is possible but for right now just be happy with being a OS, Once you get to OS A-School you just may find out that you like being a OS and that you have more chances of advancing your self to the next pay grade. Also depends on the Manning level the IT rate maybe a closed rate I am not sure I ret over 7yrs ago but I do know that OS is a nice EZ A/C job that lets you some killer hours when you are in port so take advantage of this. My sister is a OS1 and she has no real complaints so good luck to you. Look the fact that your dad was not born in this country may or may not have anything to with that you need a secret clearance to be a OS just hang in there you get what you want in the end.

if you cannot get a Clearance or otherwise do not qualify on the line scores, you can't switch while in DEP.

what you CAN do is ship out as an OS and then in a couple of years try to cross rate to IT(typically you must serve in the rate you are trained in for at least 2 years before you can try to cross rate). BUT there are no promises made that you will be able to. if OS is undermanned when you want to switch, you won't be allowed to. if IT is overmanned, you won't be allowed to.

I can't imagine that your father's birthplace matters for a security clearance, make sure they are telling you the truth on that one. Sounds more like it's the score on the test. Hold out for this the best you can, make sure they know you want this be realize it might not be possible and you can always train later for it.

Someone is lying to you. I held a Top Secret "Q" Level clearance in the Navy and my father was born in Norway. It appears it is your ASVAB score which bars you from going to IT "A" School.

Black is going with the whole thing. AND flipflops are honestly getting into a brand new kind- dressed in them with formal clothes and with paintings garments. Its a brand new kind thats particularly making a success. SO CUTE!! and black is sublime- it particularly is going with the whole thing and provides somewhat little bit of adulthood to the shoe. Id def cross with black.
