Any ideas why my cat would pee only on linoleum floors and only during the night? She uses her box normally during the day. Tried: antibiotics for possible UTI, litter with attractant, prescription food for urinary issues, Nature's miracle and white vinegar/water solution to clean urine spots, placing food dishes and aluminum foil in areas where she pees, 3 litter boxes, and positive reinforcement with treats when she does use the box.

I think she might have an anxiety issue. Anyone have any tips on how to resolve it? I'm not getting rid of her so I'd really like to fix this fast! Thanks!

A couple of ideas:
Try a night light.
Do not put litter and food near each other cats want separate area for these two things.
Let the cat stay in the room with you at night with a litter box and and water, on the other side of the room of course.
Clean the linoleum floors with orange cleaners, most cats don't like the smell and will stay away.
Use Fabreeze in the area. I spray it in my garden to keep roaming cats away.

You are probably not getting the smell out of the linoleum. If you pour bleach on that area and it foams that means that traces of urine are still there.

Probably the best case scenario is to move her food and water and litter box to a confined area at night away from the area that she is using for a litter box.

I have found that there are only two reasons for improper elimination........illness or the kitty is unhappy and trying to LYK that she is unhappy. Think back and ask yourself has there been any major changes in her environment. A new person a young child misbehaving, another animal came to visit, construction and remodeling at your house...cats HATE change.

protecting the flooring with sheets of plastic is the sole factor i will think of of, the sole competitively priced factor. Heavy plastic, which includes that used for vapour barrier over insulation, that may stand being walked on or mopped with out tearing. They make a undeniable tape that sticks to plastic to apply whilst this is being put in as a vapour barrier, so i might get a number of that too. Very sticky. do no longer be conscious it to something that's no longer plastic. You did no longer ask for this suggestion, yet your vet might desire to have some recommendations. There are drugs which could shrink stress in cats, and those worked ok for one in each of my cats. As my vet defined, cats are no longer meant to stay in communities of cats they are no longer related to and this is totally stressful for them. if your vet does not have any techniques in this, discover yet another vet.

Is her litter box in the dark at night? My kitty is afraid to go anywhere dark, including where her litter box is. We have to leave the light on.
