they really was not interested even though i had this mans details and copy of the conversation, In this day and age shouldnt they be doing more about it. They say they are only interested in child porn............. Is this not the same thing a man wanting young children to strip and do things

Just as well i keep a very close eye on every thing she does on the internet or who knows what could happen.
The fact he wanted to know if there was anyone younger in the house to join in made me feel utterly sick.

Surely the police MUST investigate this...... I would not let it rest......I would go back to the police and insist they do something......this is a paedophile and needs to be stopped NOW before serious damage is done. You do not know what other children are being targeted by this person , nor do the police, go back and speak to a senior officer !!!!!

I am assuming this was in the UK from some of the answers here. I don't know about UK laws, but even small departments with "idiots" in them in the US couldn't wait to get a case like this. They'd definitely start a case. It may take warrants and professional computer crime people to get the total evidence but this is done all the time in the US.

I worked in a small town of about 13000 people. Our department had 24 officers there when I was still working. Yes, we are small town police but not idiots. The training given is the same for all agencies in my state. Officers look forward to demanding cases and " big cases" like this because of our " small town idiosyncrasies".

We are not far from Chicago so being "small town" is subjective. We had murders, rapes, suicides robberies, burglaries just like any other location. Per capita, the crime rate in the states is very similar from a 10 thousand person town to a 4 million person city.

I was an investigator for a total of 7 years before I became a Sergeant. If this had happened in our " little town" and the Police didn't act, there probably would have had a huge turnover in officers almost immediately including the Chief on down.

So I hope this didn't happen in the US but wished it didn't happen anywhere.

my chin just hit the floor coz I was totally gobsmacked when I read that the police wouldn't do anything. Surely they must have to treat this as a very serious crime, after all they have set up undercover operations using officers to pose as young girls in these teen chat rooms in order to catch paedophiles, so I cant really see there's much difference to what happened to your young daughter. thank goodness you do keep a close eye on things, it shows you are a caring responsible mum. take the matter higher, or go to your local paper with all the details might shame police into doing something about it. Hope you get something done about it as there are too many sickos running around out there. good luck

Well done you for being so assertive. You should take this higher up. If trying to persuade a child to take it's clothes off, isn't pornographic, I don't know what is! The perpetrator should be arrested and charged with something, surely?! Computers store all the information that ever goes through them, even if "deleted" - if you don't get a response from the police, see what your local journalist thinks? Is it any wonder so many people take the law into their own hands, these days?!

Hmm, the local police probably won't/can't do anything about it. The average PC's level of computer knowledge extends to being able to use word/excel, about the same as everyone else's

I expect you will have an incident number, contact the central control room, quoting the incident number and request that it is investigated properly. If you don't have any joy then contact the IPCC who will ensure it is investigated thoroughly.

I can't imagine the police not doing anything about that! I would be on that like white on rice. My suggestion would be to take it to another agency. The only reason I can see for an agency not investigating something like that is maybe not having the resources for it. They should have at least referred you to another agency. We have limited resources at my agency, but we still opened an investigation and made some arrests over vandalism that was being shown on YouTube. Don't rest with this until something is done.

Report the police station in question to the Independant Police Complaints Comission.

The fact that you had evidence of this sick man doing these things, and yet they refuse to do anything about it.

What rank was the officer? was it just front desk or did you speak to them at the station? I'd be back demanding very loudly to see CID and insisting they took a statement - let them answer to their superiors if anything untoward happens involving this guy in future! keep a copy, if they still do nothing forward a copy of their response to the press - get whoevers name and number refuses to deal and name and shame the force and the officer!

Disgusting behaviour, write to the chief Constable!

I would go into the police station and DEMAND that they do something, and I would tell them if nothing is done then you will take it higher, then i would write to the chief constable of your area and tell him. Something has to be done to this pervert BEFORE he does anything to any other child, just because he asked your 11yr old to strip does not mean he hasn't done it to other children too and taken still photo's of them off his web cam. He needs sorting ........and quick !!!!!!!!

Athought the indivual is a sicko, there might not be much they can do.

Odds are the person is using a fake name so finding him is near impossible. Then even if they know who he is if he lives in another state you have all kinds of jurisiction issues. And assuming your kid didn't actual strip they can only charge him with attempt.
