Number one if your trying to get bigger you need to eat six times a day. Eat lots of protein that's paramount at least 1g per body weight you have each day. You want to eat something for a boost of energy hour to half an hour before you work out. Then have a whey protein shake with carbohydrates like a bagel IMMEDIATELY after your done working out. And then eat your next meal 2 hours later.

find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain your weight. if you want to gain - add more calories.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
whey protein is the best natural gainer - look for one that has at least 15g of protein per serving and has as little carbs as possible. drink one wright after working out.
if you work out early in the morning - have some complex carbs because you shouldnt do anything on empty stomach - it can lead to many health problems including diabetes. if you work out during the day or in evening - dont eat about an hour before.
