I agree with Steph. You should immediately report it to the police. If you go to them and explain that it was an accident and then do everything you can to help them catch the person that posted it they probably will believe that it was an accident and won't charge you. I would do this asap, waiting longer reduces your chances that they will believe you and if they find the site on their own and see that you were on it then you'll have problems. Relax. Just report it and tell the truth and you should be fine. P.S. Reporting the site is also the right thing to do for the kids that are on the site. By reporting what happened maybe you can get some pedophile off the street and save other kids from getting abused.

If you accidentally found it you should reported to the authorities and explain them what had happened and how you found it. They won't send you to jail for a mere accident where you did the right thing, call them to make your report. Is worst and then you will be prosecutable in a court of law if you don't say anything after you've found out what it was, because with your silence you becomes to be a companion in crime.
Now you have to report them for sure if pop out by a TV commercial. You may do it ny www.fbi.com of though the Federal Communications Council (FCC) www.federalcommunicationscouncil.com or www.fcc.com

The simple act of seeing it on your computer by accident wouldn't be a crime (at least here in Canada). Downloading the content and putting it in a folder would be.
You should delete any "accidental" downloads immediately. If your country has an equivalent to crime stoppers (anonymous tip line) call in information about the link if you want.

I downloaded a porn based on a thumbnail and a description once - I didn't know it was child porn until I opened it. It's totally possible to accidentally see child porn on the internet.
You could probably just delete it. Authorities don't have enough time to catch all of the sick people in the world, they certainly aren't going to waste their time arresting someone who accidentally downloaded a single video or picture. Now, if someone "accidentally" downloaded it every day.. or visited sites every day.. then they'd have a problem. :/

Well, despite the comments to this question, I've had some serious filth appearing in my inbox. Mostly it gets picked up by the spam filter but once in a while .............Ugh!
This is an interesting question.
I assume that normal people delete this stuff and the abnormal people pay for more and save it.

How do you accidentally access child porn? The same way that my wife, who has no interest in such things, accidentally (or perhaps not; perhaps someone had programmed an internet trap) found herself watching a gang of gay Russian men doing amazing things to each other with themselves and with cucumbers.
Like me, she is old and not naive, but as she said, she was surprised. She did not think her life was enriched by the experience.
It can happen. It might happen to you.

try not to browse porn sites??? buy a dvd instead! if you are gonna browse porn then its a sure thing thats where the illegal stuff will be? or if you do report it to the police straight away....theres no law against looking at porn so if you stumble upon something bad report it at once before you get entangled in it.

Don't save it as your screen saver!!!!!!!
The internet has some scary stuff out there, the advice to copy down the address and pass it on to your service provider sounds sensible. Block the site, and make sure you have decent internet security and filter systems. You don't even have to go looking for porn on the internet as anyone who's looked at their spam e-mails will know - it finds you easily enough.

Report it here http://www.iwf.org.uk/
Generally speaking child porn is not the kind of thing you stumble across accidentally. It is concealed and not thrust in peoples faces as spam or for a laugh and a joke as adult porn might be.

It is easy to accidently download child porn, these are hidden under a different discription so you don't realise until you've downloaded it.
In 3 yrs it as happened to me twice and i delete it immediately,i don't want sick sh*t like that on my PC.
The police are only interested in people who store images, not someone who has done it by accident and deleted it once or twice.
