about ten years ago my grandpa kicked my uncle out of the house because he had a drinking problem. we use to still talk to him but over the years we lost contact with him. a couple days ago we got a letter in the mail from him that said he hadnt had a drink in five years and that he was sorry and that he had tried to contact us but we never answered the phone (which is normal since we never answer our phone) he gave us his adress and phone number and said to contact him. my parents left the letter on the computer desk where eveyone can see it so i read it. they never talk about him so im not sure if they're going to call him. i was wondering if i should write him a letter asking how he is and stuff becaue i really miss him or do you think my parents would be mad.

since you said you are a family. blood is thicker than water. and its been 10yrs since he been kicked out. he might really have changed in to a better person. i believe everyone should be given a second chance. dont wait till that day of regretting you have never done anything for that particular person and never had the chance again.
maybe your parents wanted to contact your uncle, or even your grandpa wanted to do so, maybe the lack of courage stops them or some other reasons.
i think you should write to him

good luck!

You should write him a letter.
It's your Grandpa who kicked him out of the house, not your parents. So why should they be mad?
Even if they get mad, don't cry or shout or bang the door or anything. I know this is hard to do, but stay calm and say,
"I missed him and so I wrote him a letter. What's wrong with it?"
You will know you are right.

Sounds like a plan, just write him a letter and that should be a start! Luck!

People can change , I would call him or write him, At least let him know that he has someone who cares. maybe by them leaving the letter for you to see , they are letting you make up your own mind.

yes, you should write him a letter. it sounds like he's really sorry and changed. unless he's just saying that because he wants something, but who knows? you should give him the second chance. he's probably miserable.

i don't know your age but you're obviously old enough to understand the whole thing. i don't see that would have any problem with you writting a letter but i would make sure before you do it.
