(A) This event did not happen in the literal sense. The metaphorical explanation is that the message brought by Jesus could transform a condemned soul (water) into a forgiven soul (wine). Remember, water in that day and age was impure and disease-ridden. Wine was microbe-free, pure and 'incorruptable.'

(B) It did happen literally by the power of the Father working through His Son.

(C) It did happen literally, by magic.

(D) It did happen literally. Jesus was a pagan, and used magick.

(E) All of the above.

(F) None of the above.

(G) Any of the above.

The correct answer is (G), any of the above, including (F) which seems to negate the other choices. It doesn't.

What matters is the message one takes from the story, not its literal truth. It does not matter how the message is conveyed, only that it is.

If anyone chooses (F), it is because of (1) a well-reasoned belief that some other reason explains the event, or possibly (2) the message is not worthwhile.

If sincerely held, any belief is valid for the believer.

His power and authority over nature. Remember, this was His first sign of his authority intended to give a message to His disciples that He was special and to pay attention and it was also symbolic of the change in thinking that He was about to usher in.

Wine, during this time, symbolized joy and was used to celebrate. How fitting is it that Christ's first sign involved taking a dead substance like water and turning it into wine.

Not to mention the fact that the water in the cisterns that he used were intended to be used to wash the hands of the guests at the wedding celebration. This water was, even by the times standard, not very good water. After the master of ceremonies sampled the water that Christ changed to wine he stated it was the best wine.

He didn't turn water into wine, he provided the wine -- which was the responsibility of the bridegroom at his own wedding. Jesus was getting married to Mary Magdalene. The text was altered to suit the prejudices of later "christian" authorities.

What is matter made of? How was space made? How was time made? If you are so smart, please create your own universe. Thanks.

Jesus didn't need anything to turn water into wine. GOD spoke the whole universe into existence. He can certainly change anything that He wants.

that was Jesus' first miracle, he asked the servants of the house to take some jugs and fill them with water, once they returned, he told them to take some of the water and serve it to their master.

When the master drank it was changed to wine.
