I'm currently on a diet and i don't seem to be losing any weight. I'm only 15 years old so I don't think it's my metabolism slowing down. I eat on an average of 1300 calories and i strictly exercise and work out for about 40 minutes to an hour a day. Unfortunately however, i don't seem to be losing any weight. Can someone please tell me what i'm doing wrong and what i can do to fix this?

Its probably what you're eating. You can't just eat 1200 or 1300 calories a day. You need to eat a BALANCED diet. Your body needs that ammo to burn fat.

Maybe you don't need to lose weight. It's hard to lose weight if your body doesn't need to lose weight.
If you don't drink enough water, then your body can't break down fat. You should drink about 1.5-2 litres of water everyday (don't need to drink as much if you eat lots of fruit and vegetables, and drink soups).

If you just started losing weight, it may be a bit slow at first. Exercising usually increases the amount of muscles you have, muscles are naturally heavier than fat so you may be losing weight, but gaining so muscle, evening out the weight loss.

If you continue to exercise i'm sure you will lose some weight, for every pound of muscle you burn an extra 50 calories a day.

If you're hungry you should eat, when you don't eat, you slow down your body's metabolism, causing it to burn less calories and store more fat.

Eat lots of fibrous foods: fruit, vegetables, and whole grain stuff, and avoid foods with high sugar, salt or fat content.

The food you eat is just as important as the amount of calories you consume. And since you're still growing it's really important to eat a well balanced diet.

Okay you are the same age as I am. I am on a diet also(trying to get abs) and I have lost seven pounds. You may want to lower your calorie intakes by 1000 calories a day. Also make sure you drink in onces half of your body weight and do exercises that burn your calories for that day. A slow diet keeps the pounds off and a fast diet works at first but you end up gaining it all back. There are many sites you can go on that will tell you how many calories you can lose for doing sports to simple work around the house. Hope this helps. I was in the same situation as you were.

your body is in starvation mode and you are not gona lose any weight (fat) if you keep depriving it.
to lose fat you have to eat so your body would let the fat go and stop using your muscle for energy.
you will gain a few pounds at first but then your metabolism will stabilize and you will start losing.
find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio is the only fat burning exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Still not enough info. How long have you been trying? Don't expect results immediately. Some people don't count food they eat while standing up!! Some don't count snacks. If you are already at your ideal weight, you shouldn't try to lose. You may be getting ready for a growth spurt, in which case you need some stored fat. Are you doing the right kind of exercise?Even if you don't lose "weight" you may converting lbs from fat to muscle. Consult a trainer for maximum benefit.

If your exercising that much you need more than 1300 calories a day...your body is in starvation mode and holding onto any extra fat it can... you may have decent metabolism, but what you're doing will definately screw it up... try eating about 1800-2000 calories a day in five small meals... keep up the exercise and you'll be surprised at your results...

First, are you sure that you really need to loose weight? Maybe your weight is just right for your height and age. Kids around your age really are too conscious on the way they look. See your doctor and and ask if you're really over weight. If he says you are, start telling him that you've tried everything from diet to exercising. if he thinks it is really necessary, he might run some tests on your thyroid hormones. Good Luck and feel good and be proud on how you look.

make sure the food your eating is low in fat, drink ALOT of water..lik 3 r 4 litres a day, and make sure the excercise your doing is really tiring like running or cycling or swimming or jumping theyre the excercises that make you lose the most weight, if you keep at it you will start to see a diference over a week or two

IF you are eating items that are low calories and have Aspartame in them; that can cause it. Aspartame has ninety-six known side effects and one of them is causing people to gain weight. I would go and study this pre-sweetener if I was you.
