There are a lot of things you can do to help the environment, but I don't think you can do anything to change the process that mother nature has gone through for thousands of years!
Most scientist agree that "Global Warming" is a natural phenomenon and man's many wonders have no real impact on the temperature of the earth!
Sorry!

This is an admirable thing you want to do. Realize however, that the earth's temperature on average varies in a cyclical fashion . The concept of global warming is not widely supported with statistics, just scientific hypothesis. When dealing with a scientific hypothesis, remember these were they same sort of folks that were all but sure that we were entering another ice age in the 1970's. Further back, scientific hypothesis supported the notion that the world was flat. If you are looking for things to do on summer recess, consider playing sports with your friends, reading a good book, and if you have time, volunteer to help a needy agency. Good luck, stay safe, and have fun!

I just read about this website on the Wall Street Journal: Carbon Diet Plan. It is an application that can put us on a 'carbon diet'. As an individual and friends, we can make an impact on global warming 1 lb at a time.

Don't pay any attention to the global warming deniers. They have been suckered in by right-wing propaganda. Global warming is quite real, and a danger to all of humanity. If they really understood the problem they would not believe the innane, anti-scientific things that they do.
It is difficult for any one individual to participate in our society without contributing to global warming, because everything about our technology, from food production to transportation to home heating to steel production, is based on the use of fossil fuels. The most important thing is to change that for everyone, by changing all of our energy sources to nuclear and renewable sources. This will require political action, and the most important thing you can do for the Earth is to promote and support such political action.

- don't use plastic water bottles
- use your own bags when you go grocery shopping. avoid
using the plastic bags the grocers provide
- use eco-friendly cleaning products (Seventh Generation
makes effective but 'green' cleaners)
- turn off all unnecessary electronics/lights (computer) when
it's not being used
- save water :O
- plant trees!! trees are natural filters.. they clean the air!
- don't drive everywhere... walk, bike, or carpool if you have
too. public transit is great, especially sky-trains... no
emmisions!

Al Gore says that we should start by burying our cars. It took me several hours to bury my dad's and he was very hostile with me and kicked me out of the house. I'm afraid he doesn't see how important it is to save the planet. You could also bury your neighbors car too. It is environmentally safe too! It is just best not to talk about it, just keep quite and try not to brag how you did your part to save the earth.
