As JOHN K said, the early Laguna had two bonnet primary catches released by the internal lever - one in each front corner of the bonnet.

Bonnet release cable failures are quite common on the Laguna, and any Renault dealer, or independent Renault specialist repairer will know how to open the bonnet from below and replace the cables.

Your car has 2 bonnet locks. Both are above your headlights. As previous answers,if you can look under the bonnet a bit?See if the cable is working them?If not it might be easier to just force the bonnet off them.Sorry its not better news,

If the cables are broken the only way to open the latch is to drill it out. Check to see if you can access the latch under the hood, or you may have to drill through the bonnet. Once the latch is open you should install hood pins like on racecars to keep your bonnet closed.

Try having some one pull the lever while you give it a solid yet soft blow at the latch mechanism. Or wiggle the trunk while giving slight opening pressure. If you get it open make sure it is in adjustment and lubricate it. I recommend lithium grease in a aerosol can.

your laguna might desire to correctly have pelvic inflammitory illness, yet whilst it seems to no longer be this then its incredibly uncomplicated on those for the cables below the bonnet to stretch, there are 2 latches, the sole thank you to try this's jack it up get below it and pull the cable that runs between the two latches with a sprint rod, then substitute the cables and sparkling and grease the latches.

My only advice is to not buy a French car because they are built like toys. The door locks and levers and such always break. I suspect this advice is a little late for you, but other readers take heed.
