"Remember, though," adds Smith, "there are two polar caps on Mars--north and south. While the south polar cap is vaporizing the north polar cap is growing. It's a balancing act.
Cool. Kind of like Earth where most of Antarctica is expanding.
It IS a balancing act.

Maybe Bob can explain why the ice caps on Mars are melting if he needs scientific proof.
As for Al Gore, I think it is the most sober act he has ever done. He is riding the global warming hysteria for all it is worth, making millions, and being treated like a rockstar all the while. I wish I had a scam like that!
I wonder if Bob would by a book about an alien invasion of cats posing as cats? What do you think?
For Dana Montana---the polar icecaps of Mars have been melting along with earth's. In fact polar icecaps throughout the solar system are melting and have been for a while. Look at the glacial ice history. It is filled with periods of warming and cooling even before mankind got here sweetcheeks. And your source was from 2003 which was before the Mars rover got there. Below is a report from 2005 and is after the rover got there.
No, I am not making fun of Al Bore. I just wish I had his creative genius and gall. Perhaps Dana can tell us if martians drive little SUVs. Hey that is it! I'll start up a Save Mars campaign! Dana ---your a gen-er....what an imagination you have =patting on head like small child=

I'm just curious, does slandering Al Gore make you feel good about yourself?
For Ape:
Like Earth, Mars has seasons that cause its polar caps to wax and wane. "It's late spring at the south pole of Mars," says planetary scientist Dave Smith of the Goddard Space Flight Center. "The polar cap is receding because the springtime sun is shining on it."
"Remember, though," adds Smith, "there are two polar caps on Mars--north and south. While the south polar cap is vaporizing the north polar cap is growing. It's a balancing act.

Why do people think Al Gore has anything to do with environmental science?
Ragging on Gore is simply a sign that the global warming deniers have no scientific arguments that stand scrutiny.
Re Mars, below:
The scientists who did the work on Mars say the reason is giant dust storms, long known to exist.

None of the skeptics "scientific" arguments stand up to scrutiny.

Yes, good for him. Now he needs to overcome his addiction to food and he'll be OK (not smarter, but OK.)
