It is my observation that Christians are resistant to the idea of global warming because they feel that nothing can happen that isn't in "God's master plan." They also believe that Christ will return and make a "new heaven and new earth", so they feel no great motivation to tackle the issue of global warming, or any environmental issues, for that matter.

Mind you, I'm not saying that all Christians feel this way, but I have gotten the impression that most do. What are your thoughts(Christian or otherwise) on this matter?

I'm a Catholic but I don't believe that everything is left up to "God's master plan". He also let's us make our own decisions (good and bad). Therefore, we have the choice to protect the environment. Or, not to protect it !

Catholics are turning away from the Church because it is perceived as "backward". I often feel "out of touch" with the Catholic churchs' beliefs and teachings. It would be a good idea for the Church to show more interest in the protection of the environment. I'm sure that alot of Catholics would be pleased to see them set a good example. By doing so, they would also encourage their members to do the same. Notably in 2nd and 3rd world countries where environment issues are just as relevant, if not more so.

Just for the record, I admire Buddhism. Buddhists believe that the world passes through alternating cycles of evolution and dissolution, each of which endures for a long period of time. Though change is inherent in nature, Buddhism believes that natural processes are affected by the morals of man.

As a Christian, I'm really not worried about global warming. I'm sure global warming exists to a certain degree but perhaps not to the degree that everyone seems to be freaking out about today. Historically, the climate has occurred in cycles. Example: At one time Greenland was not covered in ice as it is today. The vikings used to stop there and plant crops because of its fertile soil. Today, it is a frozen tundra and no one would dream of planting crops there.

But that's besides my point. My point is that God is in control and everything is working towards the outcome of his master plan. Compared to what is supposed to happen to earth eventually (read Revelation), global warming is just a blip on the radar. As far as the natural warming and cooling cycles of the earth are concerned, there really is nothing we can do about that is there? But as far as pollution is concerned, we can do something about that. This world is God's creation and so we should take care of it. Everyone should look at themselves as individuals and as whatever groups or industries or organizations they belong to and see what they can do to contribute to a cleaner, safer environment.

Apples vs. Oranges. Or extremely, Apples vs. little tubes crammed with xenon. those 2 have no longer something to do with one yet another. climate exchange is a thoroughly documented prevalence, the lifestyles of it is according to real information. Christianity is a sequence of non secular ideals that are break free the medical technique and subsequently real information. If the question you attempt to ask is extra alongside the strains of, "Evangelistic political ideals asserting climate exchange is a delusion vs. What each and every scientist with any know-how on climatology says", then it isn't any longer a contest. Climatologists and different scientists use purpose finding out to create a sequence of findings, and from weighing the findings they could draw conclusions. Evangelistic suggestions are unlike this, as they intentionally %. specific products of information that are maximum often intentionally deceptive. This has lots extra to do with politics than faith and is a recent progression. worldwide warming, via the way.

In 1975, the New York times posted scientific evidence the the polar ice caps were increasing at alarming rates. so fast that they would over take northern Canada. and lower temperature so much that farming in North America would decrease so much that world wide famine would follow. What happened to that? Now there's global warming? 30 Years from now we will look back and realize just more propaganda to try to scare us into thinking we need government to protect us and be our mom and dad. The world will come to an end someday. On Gods Time and on Gods condition. Yes I'm a Christian.

We all need to be good stewards of the earth. We breathe the oxygen that nature provides. I am a Christian and I believe in "God's master plan," so to speak, and the new heaven and new earth bit, but I also believe we all have a calling to take care of our environment. It's bad theology to assume otherwise. With freedom comes responsibility.

Hi Brecht! As a Christian I'm very concerned about global warming although I don't know if it's hype or not. I know that God's plan will come to fruition someday but in the meantime I want to help our planet. I've never met a Christian who thinks that it doesn't matter because God is coming because we don't know when.

I sold my Escalade and bought a car much more efficient. I join groups to protect our wildlife and recycle. I think it's everyones responsibility to take care of our planet. Christian or not.

I think many Christians believe they are the center of the universe and that whatever happens is central to their own existence. it is self-centered to believe that reality bends itself around your own belief. I believe in God, but i also believe that we are insignificant and the best we can do is leave things just a tiny bit better...or better yet, leave no footprints at all...Whether or not there is a god, what's more important, a hypothetical Heaven or actually tending the Garden He left us? It is selfish to worry so much about your own so much that you do nothing for your children and every living thing while your here. I believe the real God is part of all living things and that if he was simply the caretaker of departed souls, he is not part of life. God put us here for a reason and it is a gift to be given life on this planet whether or not there is a Heaven or not

A Christian tenent is that God helps those that help themselves.

You know I once asked Christians why they owned cars that pollute God's world and I was called a Christian basher!

If Jesus came to Earth today and TALKED DOWN on the CAR and said NO good person should own one. I wonder how many Christians would want him crusified!

As a christian and an Ecoist I know that we are called to be the stewards of the all the earth and what dwells within. I don't know where you live or what interactions you have with the Christians there ,but know that if they are being true followers of the Lord they will do as he has asked of us. Pray for them please
