I agree with St. Theresa, you'll f ind your meaning when you find your purpose.
“Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.” –Bertrand Russell
So, unless you are willing to consider the existence of your Creator, there is no purpose and no meaning and that includes love, friendships, compassion, "right and wrong" and everything else we all consider noble. You can, however, make up something that sounds good and then deceive yourself that it is of importance. In that case, you're just looking for good feelings.
So seek God or forget real meaning and seek good feelings. Those are the only two choices.

I think the answer is "to care." It doesn't matter what you care about. There is no right or wrong thing to care about, as long as the purpose is not to harm. One day, you can care about yourself; the next you could care about someone or something else. It's all equally fine. Obviously, the beings in most trouble deserve the most of our cares, but many of us may not be ready or competent to help. There is a saying that we do great things with baby steps. It doesn't matter if we do a great thing in life or not. The little caring we do here and there makes a difference. It's the little things that matter.
Even when one is helpless or incompetent, to be helped by others can be a wonderful thing for the helper, too. In other words, it is equally nice to receive as it is to give. (Life is circular and there are no boundaries.) For instance, do disabled people contribute to society? If nothing, they make those around them better people. So that itself is meaningful.
Every matter (including people) matters, and every thing or being is sacred. So it is our job to care about as many things as our body, mind and soul allow us. It's okay to rest, too.

Survival and Procreation.
Discovery Channel has a documentary of wild birth. A Gazelle will drop the new born and immediately it will try to stand up and walk. Survive. Only the higher thinkers of the Mammalians try to find an exclusive answer. The rest just do it!

this question has been asked sincce the beginning of time and no one has really been able lto answer it. to me the meaning of life is holding the hand of a small baby.hearing it laugh and seeing it smile. watching it beeing born. seeing the sun come up in the morning and watching it set at night. being in the mountains and seeing nothing but more mountains. being with my grandchildren, cuddling with my husband, debating the meaning of life with my son. helping people who cannot help themselves. talking to an elderly person who has so much to tell if only someone would ask them to share their knowledge with me. learning to share my culture with other cultures. to me that's the meaning of life to me.

well I think that varies a lot between each person first you have to admit that you believe that you have a meaning in life, then you can begin to search within yourself to figure out what obstacles you feel you have to overcome....long story short, Life is a goal which revolves on people who live it and not the people who chose to sit on the sidelines just to get by...
Here is a poem of mine...
Life is sometimes dreadful,
But thou shall not dread how life shall be lived
or how it has lived
