Depends on your body, but laughing gas can really suck. It feels... like the adrenaline rush from hell. Not for everyone, though - and it does only cost $150 or so.

Try asking your doctor for valium - it's more of a sure-bet than nitrous and waaaay less expensive. You'll have to go in - but you could call ahead to see if he'd prescribe it. Good luck with the braces! Hope you're getting cute colors :)

You don't need laughing gas. Getting the braces put on does not hurt. The pain starts after you get your braces on and lasts for a couple of days. When that pain starts just get some Tylenol or Advil and you will be fine. You will have to eat soft foods for a while but soon be able to eat normally again. Don't worry. Getting the braces on does not hurt, just a little uncomfortable. Good luck and pick good colors!!

You don't need laughing gas, and I'm sorry, but you have to suck it up! The only annoying thing when getting braces is the stuff that the orthodontist uses to glue your braces onto your teeth because it's really sour-ish. And besides I doubt that they'll let you have anything of that sort since it's not really a big deal.

it could be alot extra durable to place braces on a napping person.. And No they wont placed napping gas on you.. they're going to use some glue and stuff to place the brackets on your enamel :)

I've never heard of using nitrous (laughing gas) for braces. It's a simple procedure and is not painful. You can discuss it with your orthodontist though.

Why would you want to ignore your orthodontist? If he asks you questions, like how you are feeling, do you need to spit, etc. wouldn't you want to be aware enough to respond?
