its hard to say one disorder from another, borderline is a lot like bipolar as I have both but knowing what part is my borderline and what is the bipolar is real real hard. Maybe you have more then one disorder at a time going on and the best thing you can do right now is phone your doctor and let him/her know what is really going on. they can not help you the right way if they don't have the big picture. take care good luck.

My first reaction was that it sounded like Attention Deficit Disorder, but your frightening obsessive thoughts make me think it may be something else entirely. It sounds as though you have an anxiety disorder, perhaps specific phobias if your fears are always based on the same things. However, if you feel the need to act on your obsessions, or feel like you can do or think something to "prevent" the bad thoughts from coming true, you would most likely be diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Check out this page for a description of the various anxiety disorders (including OCD) and a pretty thorough rundown of various treatment options available:
http://www.nimh.nih.gov/publicat/anxiety.cfm
This site has lots of helpful information on OCD, including a quick "screening quiz" for OCD:
http://psychcentral.com/disorders/ocd/
And finally, here's a link to one of my personal favorite sites for OCD information and support, including links to more resources, a great forum, and a whole bunch more:
http://www.ocduk.org/
Remember, things can be "mixed and matched"; just because you have one diagnosis, doesn't mean you don't have another. You find your problems are caused by a mixture of disorders. I personally am struggling with OCD and ADD, a very frustrating combination, and I understand how difficult it can be to cope with mental illness. If you need any more help or would just like some more links to sites I've personally found helpful, feel free to drop me an email anytime.
Finally, always be sure to work with your doctor or psychiatrist to help you find the correct diagnosis and course of treatment for you. Never lose hope. I'm sorry this answer ended up so long, but I hope it helped you out, and I wish you the best of luck with everything.

It sounds to me like OCD. Your obsessing on things. Has your doctor told you about this?
I have BPD as well as OCD. There are medications to help you with those thoughts.
Buspar is a common medication used for this.
