Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly and freedom to do just about anything you want to do... but are you really free?

The Bible says that we are slaves... slaves to sin. (Romans 6:15-22) What is sin? Sin is violating God’s law… the Ten Commandments. (Galatians 3:19) Need proof you are a slave to sin? The ninth commandment says, "You shall not bear false witness." In other words, "You shall not lie." How many times have you told lies in your life? How about stealing? Have you ever taken God’s name in vain? Have you ever looked with lust (sexual desire) at anyone you were not married to? The Bible says "Whosoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery already with her in his heart" How many times have you been guilty of looking with lust? If you are guilty of these then you are a slave to sin. God tells us that all liars, drunks, the sexually immoral, thieves, etc. will end up in the lake of fire... eternal hell. (Revelation 21:8, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10). The Bible makes it clear that we have to be pure to go to heaven. The problem is that “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23) A few verses before that we also find these condemning words: “There is none righteous, no, not one… There is none who seeks after God… There is none who does good, no, not one.“ In fact, the Bible says, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.’ (Galatians 3:10)” God will justly judge you when you die and none who are unholy will enter heaven. (Heb 9:27) We have to be holy to go to heaven.

There is hope! God lowered himself and became a man, Jesus Christ. He did what no other man could; He lived a perfect life. He never sinned. Then He shed His blood and died on the cross, paying the penalty for sin. After three days he rose from the dead, defeating death. His blood will make us holy! So do as the Bible says, repent and have faith in Jesus Christ. Stop living a lifestyle of sin… turn from your sin and start living for God. Deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow Him. (Luke 9:23). Humble yourself. Realize you are created to glorify God. True freedom is only found in Jesus Christ.

Yes, we dont have full freedom right now > Rights are being lost as we speak. Many beaches and so on we used to go to are now blocked off , and you have to pay to go and so on. Americans, wake up. Many ways we have lost our freedoms. speak up about Jesus in schools and see what hapens. BUt they can speak up about the Koran and all is well.
But, God is in control and it will all be settled soon. we just pray and live for God and leave it to Him. The other way it is really possible to not live fully free. If you live in this world and think you are free, but you dont yet know Jesus, you arent really free yet, till you know full fredom in Christ in the ability to overcome sin and live as He does. JEsus saves, Jesus heals and delivers and Jesus sets us free.

If you think people are truly free in Amerika then you really are naive, as most of the population were pre-9/11. Freedom of speech is now allowed in zoned area's now, Freedom ? religion ? ask muslims ..for now.
America was highjacked by big business and banking cartels. The fed reserve is privately run this is no secret although the majority of american people take it for granted that it is infact government run. Its run for prophet , and the same people who control the fed, also control the IMF and world bank. This is no conspirators nonsense these are plain before your eye facts. The profiteersare just a handful of powerful banking elite who have controlled it for decades. Many interest groups control american policy, not politicians as such. Remember its these individuals who are taxing their wage package. Its these individuals who have allowed our Sterling £ pound here in the UK, go to $ 2.03 to the £1.

What I would do, I do not. what I would not do, I do. I am a wretch, saved by Grace, but most of the shackles have been broken. Prison has been mentioned, but there are some in prison that are more free than some that have never seen a jail. There are prisoners of Native American Reservations that live in deplorable conditions. I start this day anew, knowing His mercy is fresh every morning. God bless you.

I don't think freedom is confined to a country. So the answer is wherever you live you are not free. Freedom is a concept. There is the freedom of thought, speech, religion, education,to bear arms,of assembly, associations etc. You are always confined and limited in your freedoms. You are not free to dress the way you want....you can only buy the clothes that someone else has decided are the style for today. You cannot eat what you want...but only what is being sold. etc

True. If you are not a slave to righteousness, you are a slave to sin. One or the other will be your master.

I would like to reply to the statements concerning our American freedoms. We used to have them and most people mistakenly assume that we still do however it's not true.Since a Court ruling in 1947 to establish a wall of separation of church and state ( not in our Constitution, by the way) we have been steadily losing our religious freedoms, at least as Christians anyway. These are only some examples of court rulings handed down since that awful day...

Well that counts me out of the question I am doomed to Hell as only a selected few will ever get there. I am referring to another answer from someone else who advised me that we that don't go to heaven to sit beside the Lord Jesus will walk in the Garden of Plenty here on earth. That is if I don't repent on the final day of the coming rapture.

Blessed - that was the most inane and contradictory answer imaginable.
"you are free when you listen to GOD and do what HE ask you to do. "
Can you not see the stupidity in that?

Bert - Our law is not based on the Ten Commandments, it is based on principles far older and more universal than that. Or have you been arrested for working on a Saturday or taking god's name in vain?
