My girlfriend and I have been dating for 3 years and naturally, we're already talking about marriage and having kids. So what started out as sort of a joke, might become reality. We want to name our kid, if it's a boy, Dragon. What do you guys think about this name? I guess he'll have to learn Karate! We're white so he obviously wont look Asian... however, his name will be Dragon. Will kids make fun of him?

I actually really like that name. It's different and strong. Kids GET nicknames that stick sometimes, so what is the difference. I say, go for it!

You may as well paint a target on his back. Some of the names parents come up with are just cruel. My kids have semi-unique names and all with the same letter... but as individuals they are perfectly acceptable names. Think about later in life when "Dragon" gets his career started. Can you imagine Dr. Dragon Smith or Judge Dragon Smith?? Make fun of the name anyway you can now and multiply that by 10.... that's how the kids in school will be towards him.

It's an unusual name and there may be a time or three where he's teased for it. But then again, it does have a cool quality to it as well. He'll probably be made fun of a bit, and he'll also get comments on how it's a cool name. If you want a name that attracts attention, then it's fine.

Kids are very mean! If the name has significant meaning to you, I can see why you would want to use it. But just keep in mind how the child will feel when he starts elementary school and everything. But hey, whatever works! Just stating my opinion, I don't really care for the name... sorry!

Please don't name him dragon. It's not right to predetermine your child's personality by giving him such a whimsical name.

I'm not saying it's a bad name, but I, as a guy, would certainly not like to have Dragon as a birth name.

If you want to incorporate it into his life so much, I'd suggest it as maybe a middle name, or a nickname.

Besides, which sounds cooler?

"My name is Dragon" or "Dragon's my MIDDLE name...."

Kids will always make fun of each others names. There's no way to avoid it.

Kids if they are the mean type that pick on others will find a reason even if his name was John Smith. I love unusual names so go for it. Teach your child to be strong in who they are and they will be fine.

No, I'd never do that because I love my son.

Will kids make fun of him? The first thought I had was "this will be a kid that my son can beat up at school". Good luck!

It would be hard if the name didn't suit him.

Dragon is very powerful, strong, and fierce. He would have quite a big name to live up to.

It's a cool, whimsical idea, but not very practical.

You can name your kid whatever you choose but i think it's dumb. It not like he's Bruce Lee or anything. You can still do something different but not a creature.
