Guns have their specialized niche. A shotgun is designed for multiple, moving targets at ranges from 10yds to 40 yds. With proper ammo selection it is a devastating weapon. The sniper rifle is designed for select targets at ranges from 100yds to 1500yds, maybe more.
You have specified nothing about caliber and there are many rifle cartridges that have much more energy than a shotgun.
For this argument, I would say the sniper rifle. It allows the precise placement of a single powerful cartridge to a specific part of the anatomy. A shotgun shoots multiple projectiles but you can not guarantee they will impact the best places on the human body for death and/or incapicitation.
They both kill, so neither one is "deadlier". Dead is dead there is no "sort of dead" and "dead" and "really dead". Oh, I forgot one... "REALLY, really dead!".

A sniper is one who fires from concealment and snipers have been known to use shotguns. If you mean to ask, What is stronger, a sniper rifle or a shotgun? The answer is: Too many variables. Twenty-twos have been used as sniper weapons. Even a 410 or 28 gauge shotgun is bigger than a .22 LR.
Which inflicts more damage? The shotgun tends to inflict more damage, but the shotgun is a short range weapon. At a hundred yards even a twenty-two rifle will inflict more damage than a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with 7 n 1/2 birdshot.
Which is deadlier? Both will shoot you dead. Again, depends on the range, caliber size, shot size, etc.

Neither, really. A rifle fires a high powered bullet at very high velocities, while a shotgun fires a blast of pellets at rather low velocities. (unless your using slugs). In the shotgun, the blasts energy is devided up amoung indiviual pellets, so the more you have, the less powerful each indivual one is (a single birdshot pellet is comprable to an air rifle). Therefore a scattergun pretty much sucks as far as penetration is concerned, although the power of it's concentrated blast makes it one of the most lethal weapons ever concived at short range! At close range the shotgun would be far deadlier. Unlike shotgun pellets, a high powered rifle bullet CAN NOT be stoped by a human body closer than 1100 yards+ (depending on the round). This would mean the bullet would pass through the body, taking most of it's energy along with it (instead of transmitting it to an opponet)! Although still highly lethal and effective, it still would not have as large of chance of an instant kill as a shotgun would, unless you hit a vital organ. (But I really don't think theye'd still be in a condition to attack you!) Against unarmored opponents at less then 50 yards, the shotgun is certianly more deadly, but if they were far away or were behind moderate cover (behind a car, sand bags, etc...) the sniper rifle would prove much more effective. Hope I helped!

I want to say the shotgun at a decent firing distance. The shotgun creates large temporary wound cavities and smaller pernament wound cavities (buckshot) which will lead to traumatic shock and death. The sniper round will generally create a small temporary wound cavities and a very large pernament wound cavity and would possibly over penetrate leaving the victim to just bleed out which depending on the area (like center mass) it could take days. I will say this is apples and oranges because the shotgun can feed a variety of ammo loads and the sniper can handle longer distances. At room killing distance however, my bet is on a shotgun.

It all depends on how you look at it.Well Sniper rifles are chambered in a variety of cartrages everything from 223 to 50 BMG and you can shoot all diffrent kinds of bullets like hollow points,Full metal jackets,Depleated Uranimum, tracers and even rubber If you wanted to lay on a hill side 500 yards away and pick people off you would use a sniper rifle, with your choice of bullets depending on the situation.
Now the shot gun.The shotgun comes in a variedy of guages everything from 410 to 10 guage and they have all kinds of ammunition as well, like really fine bbs med size bbs or large lead balls known as Buck shot or they will also shoot a single projectile known as a slug, rifled slug, sabbot or pumpkinball. They also make less lethal rubber procectiles or bean bags used for riot controol.
Now lets just say you were going to shoot some one at 5 yards with a 12 guage wirh 00 buck shot .You take aim at their head. You would deffanatly blow it off.I know becase we shoot mellons all the time and that is a good Head target.Too bad you wernt more spaciffic.I could have gave you a better answer. Now to get back to your question I would say the shotgun at close range and the sniper rifle when you have to reach out and touch someone.

Both are lethal*. Shotgun whether shooting slugs or #4 shot for up close and personal*... Sniper Rifle for distant shooting equipped with a good sniper scope*... The word Stronger does not apply in comparing them with each other*...

They are two completely different weapons. A shotgun will do more damage at close range, and a sniper rifle will do more damage at long range.
