>>phlada : You've got it backwards .No one can disprove that something exists if someone dosen't say that they've dicovered that something exists first.Simply saying something exists is not enough. The burden of proof rests with the one that makes the claim of someone who claims that something as outrageous as an all powerful deity exists without a shred of evidence.

Sorry for the typo.

No, but we can't prove it doesn't exist, either... whatever it is.
We can only rule out the possibility of beings that contradict themselves, i.e. a being that supposedly loves everyone but sends some to eternal torment. These ideas cannot be reconciled.
The supernatural can neither be proven nor disproven because 1.) it does not need to show itself to us, and 2.) it may not even be able to do so.
It is when we begin to set parameters on the supernatural - like omnipotence, omniscience, etc. - that the being in question can be analyzed.
I reject most manmade Gods/gods because they do contradict themselves. I do not reject the possibility, however, of some generic God-concept in existence.

It would be more convincing if you cited a Christian source for what you claim Christians say on this subject. Otherwise, you could be misrepresenting the reasoning of Christians. What you state sounds more like the deism of Thomas Paine than orthodox Christianity; deism claims that a creator would be known through reason [i.e. logic] alone. However, the shoe might need to be on the other foot - the atheistic foot. The idea that the only logical statements are those capable of being verified by sense experience is actually a venerable philosophical theory known as ‘logical positivism’. It claims that what cannot be verified by science has no reality, and implies that in studying the material universe science actually encompasses all legitimate knowledge. Logical positivism was popular in the 1920s and 1930s via A.J. Ayer in his book 'Language, Truth and Logic' (1936). But Alfred Ayer himself, writing 50 years later, declared: ‘Logical positivism died a long time ago. I don’t think much of Language, truth and logic is true… it is full of mistakes.’ In spite of this, many philosophers recognize in the ‘new atheism’ of writers like Dawkins, Dennett, Harris, Stenger and Wolpert a reincarnation of this discredited school of thought – and do so with grave concern. So perhaps the iffy logic of today's atheists should be examined? And we need to be shown any source that has orthodox Christians claiming that "the existence of logic itself proves that God exists."

Yes, first, prove there is no God. In order to do this you will have to examine every place in the universe. Also, you would have to check every place all the time (since God was not at the corner last time you checked but he might be now). When you have done this (shown there is no God) you are now omniscient, and are thereby, a God, proving there is one.

The girl who said it's your job to prove god doesn't exist is an idiot. With that rational you'd have to prove Luke Skywalker doesn't exist. What about Zeus or Icarus? Can you prove they don't exist. I forget which of the thousands of saints said it, but he basically said, "If you can think it, there for it is." Well that too is the proof that idiocracy runs religion. I can think of cherubs with clubs beating school children. Does that exist? Can you prove that it does not? She's an *** just like most who can't survive without the thought of being made in the likeliness of some all seeing creator.

Logic has nothing to do about whether God exists or not.
I have not seen any solid logical reasoning to prove the God does not exist.
Also you are confusing reasoning with proof.
People who say God can't love us because He punishes us have never had to raise any children.

You'd first have to define God, then you could prove that that exists or doesn't exist with logic.

Can you describe the sound of a babies laughter to one born deaf?
God does not require man's logic to exist.....without God's logic man does not exit....

See-this is the good thing about believing in God. I dont have to use logic to explain God to anyone. It's your job to prove that God doesnt exist. When you do that-I'll get back to you.
