Religion will never ever disappear from society. In fact more people are turning to it because they believe in Somebody whom they can turn to for help or explain happenings which Science can't. When you believe in GOD, this has something to do with your religion.

I think it's already on its way out. If organized religion could still command the kind of power it enjoyed in, say, the Middle Ages, then New Ageism / aliens / magic crystals / all forms of woo-woo would never have been permitted to gain any ground at all. The fact that these latter-day forms of nonsense are doing a roaring business is one evidence for the decline of Big Religion.

I won't give you a flippant answer like "not till jesus returns" or just no. All people on the face of this planet have had some deity to worship. This is because we need a sense of belonging wether it is to each other or to a greater force. Some call it God some call him Christ some call him Buddah but I call him my personal listener. I pose questions to God and am thankfull for all my gifts in life wether it's montary or spiritual. But "religion" means to do over and over. I brush my teeth religiosly but this does not make it spirit filled. People go to church to belong. Hopefully they find spirituality their but that is up to how much effort they put into looking for God in all things. When I get a parking spot close to the store I stop and thank God. But when I have been given a mircle I worship God. I once lost my breaks comming down a mountain heading into Kingsman NM. There was no vehicles on the road and I know I looked in my review mirror and saw no one and knew if I went over the side no one would be able to see me. so I called out to God "I don't want to die this way!" When out of nowhere came a semi passed me and got in front of me and slowed me down to a stop. I was headed to Cali. and had just enough money to get thier. I got to a gas station and the mechanic said that he had a breakline that was made for my 1970 Nova. That was in 1996 he did not normally carry those but was sent that one for a car he was rebuilding and could not use it and he could not return it. So I know that God worked a mircle just for me that day. So in saying no, religion will forever be here becuase we are cretures of habit but spiritually is something you must find by searching and listening to a good leader not just to some flippant answers. I hope the best to you and hope that God reveals himself to you in a great way so you to will have a story to share someday to someone in need. I have been told when the student is ready a teacher always comes.

Probably not in this century but in the next, when adults of the 22nd-century are so much a part of science and technology that the absurdies of 'religion', of belief in an invisible supernatural god in the sky, come home to roost.

The problem is with the the world in religion, instead of religion in the world. What the world needs now is Love, sweet Love....

i don't think so. maybe some religions will convert to another or unite. but i don't see religion leaving anytime soon. i mean its great and all to have gatherings, but i honestly do not find a good excuse to go to Church while all your information is in the bible.

yes, and a lot sooner than was riginally thought. i'm 51 by the time my great grandchildren are born i think this world will see a big change away from religion and more to secularism. this change will continue intil there is no such thing as religion and man will become his own god.

unfortunately, rather than relying on reason as a guide to a moral life, people would rather have an imaginary friend tell them how to be moral. even more unfortunately, they usually don't listen to their own imaginary friend...excuse me, their own god...and so we end up with a bunch of immoral, hypocritical jerks running around making the world a miserable place to live.
