It's obvious there is something going on with her. Her father was bipolar. I am at my wit's end with her. Sometimes she is great. The next, she totally acts like she cannot hear me. I try being calm with her and be sweet. Other times I yell and scream at her. Neither works. Should I consult a psychiatrist? Her behavior has been like this since she was nearly 2.

Asperger's Syndrome ... look it up... there is a book "Asperger's Syndrome and difficult moments" I think I'm pretty close on the title... my son has Bipolar co-morbid Asperger's and ADHD.... if the mental health workers don't take you seriously, switch until you find one that will.... really please read into Spurge's Syndrome!!!! - oh, and I sympathize.... but you really don't get all that much more help even with a diagnosis... they want you to do that thing where they want you to compliment them into behaving... not effective at all!!!!

Definitely consult a specialist - a regular pediatrician is not enough to diagnose this, let alone treat it.

Don't listen to jerks who think it's all your fault and that you're a lazy parent either - you know the truth.

I would definitely consult a pediatric mental health professional who specializes in diagnosing/treating young children with developmental disabilites.

Good luck and take care of you!

get a second opinion,i think too many people stick their kids on drugs cause they are too lazy to correct the kids when they act up.all kids act up they are kids you have to be a parent not a drug pusher! also your child may have a hearing problem get another opinion and good luck.
