There could be a number of reasons, not the least of which could be a short circuit in the wiring. Have this checked first and immediately. If it is a short, the possibility of a fire increases the longer you wait.
Another possibility is you have the wrong wattage for the socket or that breaker. If a light socket has a capacity of 60 watt, putting in a 100-watt bulb whill blow it, cause it to malfunction, and even cause a fire. The breaker on your circuit panel that controls the lights may not be heavy enough to handle the load if it's an older house.
Now for the less mundane reasons. Here are several possiblities. It could be someone who has died saying "Hello, I'm here, pay attention." It could be someone very close to you who has died letting you know that they are with you/watching over you.
It could be a message to wake up, stop living in the dark about something. A decision you haven't faced. A task you keep putting off. The Divine could be giving you a less-than-subtle nudge as a reminder.
It could be you, yourself. Extreme stress can change the electrical properties of our bodies. Our "aura, " the "cloud" of energy that surrounds things, could possibly cause the problem.
Like I said, check out the mundane possibilities first because these have a potential fire hazard. After that, think about the other possibilities and see which one feels right to you.
By the way, it happens all the time to me when I don't pay attention to what I should or shouldn't be doing. If I'm thinking about my Dad who died in 1999, the same light will go out. If I watch it to prove that it was a coincidence, that sucker burns bright and steady without a flicker. :)
Mom is a bit more subtle in letting me know she's watching out for me. A whiff of her perfume, a favorite tennis star giving an interview on a channel I don't normally watch but flipped to for some reason, or a dream with her talking to me about something I'm concerned about or didn't notice.
The Divine hasn't been very subtle lately. I remember asking the Divine for guidance. I had a decision to make, Do I stay at a paying job I enjoy and provides for my family or do I take a risk and start a new business in a completely different type of work? I asked for some sort of sign or guidance that I should start the new business and take a chance.
As I stepped outside, the whole sky was filled with a huge, beautiful double rainbow. I don't think if the Divine walked up to me and smacked me in the head that the answer would have been any less subtle.
By the way, I can't wear watches or any type of that glowing/electronic jewelry. It doesn't last too long on me. If a watch stops on my arm and I take it off, a little while later it starts running again. My husband has an ohm meter to measure different types of current and wattage and the like. Most people who hold onto the electrodes (one is red and one is black) on whatever setting he uses peak about 800-1000 (don't know if this is watts or ohms and I forget what setting). When I hold it, it goes off the chart. It flies up the scale so fast, it's just plain weird. If I wet my fingers, it goes up too fast for it to register and it give some sort of error thing (don't know enough about the meter to explain).
Life is full of mysteries mundane and amazing. Have fun finding out which is yours. :)
Good journeys,
Asha

Wow. What do you mean by blowing. Please answer that and I will go back and edit my answer.
--Oh. I get it now. Well, no one else is saying what I'm thinking (even though it's insane and I'm probably going to get like 12 tums down) so i guess i will say it. Here goes...
It's possible that you have a bad energy following you. At first i thought, a spirit, then when I saw home AND work, I changed my mind. Spirits(more commonly called ghosts) can't move from one building to the next. But ENERGY can. Even a bad one. Bad energy can come from multiple sources. Have you done wedgie boards(Sp) or automatic writing. They are known to give bad energy, because spirits are the ones who "move your hand" or "move the piece over the board" and those spirits are the ones who don't move on to the other side. And mean or bad spirits are the ones who would fear heaven or hell. So they are trapped. Not alive. Not in heaven nor hell. See?
Email me if you have any more experiences, questions, or just want to talk.
p.s. My t.v. turns on or off every night around 2:30am(ALWAYS), and other times its kind random. And the channels go up by them selves.

I know someone like that, electrical stuff often went haywire around her when she was in her early twenties, it lasted a few years. I saw it happen quite a few times, as did others.
It doesn't happen anymore. No idea what it was, I don't think anyone was harmed by it, but it was a bit unsettling when it became a repeated phenomenon.
I hope you weren't joking, as I notice most answers assume you are. My reply is serious, and it was way beyond coincidence-it was predictable.

Have you had some experience where you went to the spirit world? This type of stuff usually happens to people who's spirits have left their bodies at some time.
