After doing some research on the Celts I have gotten the impression that the Celts originated from Scythia along with the Anglo's, Saxons, and many other European ethnic groups.

Is this true for all Celts or is it just for the Irish Celts (sons of Mil)?

Also to my understanding the Celtic peoples and Germanic people's can all be traced back to Scythia and have common ancestors.

Around 3,400 years ago, proto-Celtic peoples expanded across the European continent and eventually inhabited large portions of central, western, and northwestern Europe, predominating North of the Alps. Of course, for Greek and Roman observers, "Celtic" is a somewhat nebulous term at this point in time since Julius Caesar couldn't really distinguish between the Germans and the Celts.

From my understanding, Historically speaking, there are several uses of the word, Celt.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celt

"The term Celt, normally pronounced /kɛlt/ (see article on pronunciation), now refers primarily to a member of any of a number of peoples in Europe using the Celtic languages, which form a branch of the Indo-European languages. It can refer in a wider sense to a user of celtic culture. However, in ancient times the term 'celt' was used either to refer generally to barbarians in north-western Europe or to specific groups of tribes in the Iberian Peninsula and Gaul.

Although today restricted to the Atlantic coast of Western Europe, the so-called "Celtic fringe", Celtic languages were once predominant over much of Europe, from Ireland and the Iberian Peninsula in the west to northern Italy and Serbia in the east. Archaeological and historical sources show that at their maximum extent in the third century BC, Celtic peoples were also present in areas of Eastern Europe and Asia Minor."
