And that Jesus was just a very wise man who knew that through his death he would become immortal? Or am I just a nutter?

By immortal i dont mean he can't be killed, but that he has been remembered for 2000 years and will probably be for another 2000. No one would remember him today if he had died of old age. Acording to the gospel of Judus, Judas was the only one that truly understood Jesus's mission,so Jesus arranged to be turned in. Nobody plans a last supper unless they know it will be their last supper.

I believe that evolutionary theory and divine creation can, and do, coexist; in other words, there is a divine force, an intelligence, which has guided the evolution of our planet and the universe.

As to the second part of your question, yes, I agree with you. I believe that Jesus was a Middle-Eastern mystic who understood and taught that we are all children of God. Each of us has the capability of having a personal relationship with God and of becoming Christ-like.

a Christian who says they believe in evolution is calling G-d a liar, and undermining His word. Stand on faith my friend and do not try to change G-ds word just because it's hard for you to comprehend.

If one agrees to a discussion without using the Bible as some people insist, then they have set the terms of the debate. In essence these terms are:

‘Facts’ are neutral. However, there are no such things as ‘brute facts’; all facts are interpreted. Once the Bible is eliminated in the argument, then the Christians’ presuppositions are gone, leaving them unable to effectively give an alternate interpretation of the facts. Their opponents then have the upper hand as they still have their presuppositions — see Naturalism, logic and reality.

Truth can/should be determined independent of God. However, the Bible states: ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom’ (Psalm 111:10); ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge’ (Proverbs 1:7). ‘But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned’ (1 Corinthians 2:14).

A Christian cannot divorce the spiritual nature of the battle from the battle itself. A non-Christian is not neutral. The Bible makes this very clear: ‘The one who is not with Me is against Me, and the one who does not gather with Me scatters’ (Matthew 12:30); ‘And this is the condemnation, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than the Light, because their deeds were evil’ (John 3:19).

Agreeing to such terms of debate also implicitly accepts their proposition that the Bible’s account of the universe’s history is irrelevant to understanding that history!

There is no compatibility between Evolution and Christianity.
One says we are an accident of progression. The other says we are made in the image of God.

One says there is salvation that leads to eternal life and the other offers no hope beyond the grave.

One depends on faith in a hypothesis and the other depends on faith in God.

There are tons of other variables and anyone who studies them objectively will see that there is no agreement between the two.

As far as Jesus - Christianity teaches that He is God incarnate or God come in human form, not just a very wise man who knew He would become immortal. The Christian's hope is in His resurrection from the dead because it gives them a promise that they will also resurrect from the dead instead of spending eternity in a cold, damp grave.

EDIT: THE GOSPEL OF JUDAS IS A FARCE, AND CHRIST WOULD NEVER SMOKE MARIJUANA. ON THE DAY OF JUDGMENT EVERYONE WILL KNOW THAT THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION IS NOTHING BUT A DEVIOUS LIE OF SATAN. PROBLEM IS THAT IT WILL BE TOO LATE FOR MILLIONS OF DECIEVED PEOPLE THEN.

I accept evolution as a theory.
I believe Jesus is the Son of the Living God. He was sent to Earth to live a perfect life. He died for our sins so that we would no longer be bound under the laws of the Old Testament. He was crucifed, dead, and buried. He descended into Hell. The 3rd day He rose again from the dead, and He ascenced into Heaven. He is seated at the right hand of God.

He has prepared a place for us there.

I accept evolution and the "Big Bang" but I don't believe that Jesus was "just a very wise man."

But no, you're not a nutter. You're entitled to your opinion, same as anyone else is.

You raise interesting questions. I am fine with the Big Bang and with evolution being the method which was used by the Creator.
As pointed out by the author C.S. Lewis, Jesus was either who he claimed to be (the Son of God), he was the most evil liar in history, or he was a babbling lunatic. He didn't leave us the option of considering him just a good man or wise teacher.

If mankind wants to believe it or not, evolution is the physical history record of God creating all we can and cannot see, hear and touch. God also made the genetic changes over time during the course of evolution as His scientific knowledge of genetics advanced over billions of years. Human knowledge of genetics evolved billions of years after, independent of God's knowledge, and is just starting to advance for us now, except we are still billions of years behind God's knowledge not only of genetics, but other advanced fields of science as well!

Most people accept the Big Bang theory because there is currently no logical alternative. (Creationism is simply not logical) We evolved over a period of billions of years and we are still evolving. Evolution is a slow process.

Jesus was just a man, undoubtedly a good public speaker, but just a man.

i believe in God and that he initiated the big bang to get his initial plans going. if Jesus wanted immortality he could have just as well had someone say he flew to heaven on a winged horse instead of being crucified. Mohamed did the horse thing and he is going to be talked about as long as we are here, right?

Well Catholics like me and most Christians accept evolution, the big bang and science as long as science therories does not negate that God create the world, and promotes a vision of equality.

That means God create the world, He can made it by a big bang and order it by evolution.

That also means that theory of evolution without a proper respect of human differences generated racist ideas like the ones of nazis.
