Not all cats hate water. In fact, my cat loves it. I even give her baths once a month and she absolutely loves it. She feels comfortable with me and she trusts me. And she even sits under the garden sprinkler when it's on and doesn't mind wet weather. I think it's just a myth that all cats don't like water because my cat, as well as many others that I know, adore it.

Cats were originally found in deserts. They drank water, but never bathed in it. Cats do not need a bath... they lick them self clean. So, they naturally prefer it dry. However, I've heard of some cats who actually like getting a bath. So, to some degree it depends on the cat.

Some breeds that have been domesticated have been first of all Desert animals. That could have anything to do with it. Some cats love water. I feel for essentially the most facet it customarily "surprises" them to get rainy or sprayed instantly. Probably simply "extra comfy" to be dry, exceptionally with their style of fur, than it's to be rainy.

Not all do. Mine seems to like it and Maine Coon cats as a breed are known to like it and some even swim. It depends on the cat.

They do? One of mine jumps in the shower with me. You can pour a whole cup of water on him and he'll sit there watching it swirl around his feet and head to the drain.
Depends on the cat. Some don't like the feel of their fur all wet and spiky.
