I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow when the vet opens. I'm wondering if anyone has had this happen to them and if so, what was wrong with your cat? My cat is about 11 years old. She has been extremely talkative and clingy the last few weeks and has been throwin up more but I though it was b/c I had switched her hairball treats. I switched them back last week and throwing up hasn't stopped and now it has blood in it. Just looking for comfort I guess. I love her SO much! Her and my beagle are my best friends in the whole world and I just don't know what I'd do without 'em.

Found out today that she has a tumor on her thyroid causing it to overfunction. She will be starting meds tonight and will go back for more blood work in 3-4 weeks. She is so pitiful. Please pray for her. (and me.. i almost passed out when they were telling me cuz i was so afraid of what they would say)

Oh, I know just how you feel, this happens to my cat, also. It started about a year and a half ago. He was diagnosed with Inflammatory bowel disease. Maybe this is what your cat has also. The vet described it as an allergic reaction to certain proteins. He now has a Px food and I give him a little pepcid everyday. He still has an episode every now and then, but for the most part it is under control now.
The best advice I can give you is to make sure that he is getting water!! I had to get a dropper and force water into him every hour or so- this is so important though!!
Your vet will want to do a bunch of tests- ask him about this disease though.
Good Luck- keep her drinking!

I feel your pain. I had a emergency with one of the horses, and that's all I got from the horse forum I was on. What part of the vet is called, but I would like a little advice while I wait, can't people hear? I would stop solids until you can see the vet. They are coming back up and may be aggravating the problem. As with humans, maybe give her liguids to help with hydration. A day without solids will not hurt her. God bless you. The blood may be from an abrasion from the hairballs coming up. Baby her and go slow on even liquid to see how she tolerates them

We got some pink in the fluid thrown up by one of our males, which I recognized as blood coming from the stomach lining. He was throwing up everything he ate, and this cat NEVER throws up, not even hair balls.
He had pancreatitis which triggered his borderline diabetes to kick into full blown diabetes, unfortunately--so we've got a cat on insulin now, but the blood in the saliva on the floor was the first indication. (He's ok now, he's been regulated for 3 months).
You can ask about pancreatitis with your vet. I'm sure he'll want to run a full blood panel to see what's wrong. Let them know that the behavior has changed in the past few weeks, try to pin it down to a day it started. They'll need to know about what the poop looks like, food and water consumption, any drooling, any third eyelid showing, ANYTHING out of the ordinary you've noticed.

The blood in the throw up is probably from throwing up so much that the lining of her stomach has started to rip. If you can find an emergency vet open you should go. The sooner the better. This could be serious. Just comfort her and be with her as much as possible. I'll be praying for your kitty. Best wishes to you and you kitty.

I have a 13 year old male cat that is also vomiting foamy saliva with blood. About 1 month ago I notied that his stool was covered in blood and took him to the vet. He injected two pockets of fluid under his skin on both sides of his abdomen and did a fecal test that came back negative. He gave me a special food and some packets of probiotic powder to put on the food. It helped for a bit but now this. Back to the vet tomorrow

Oh no. Throwing up blood is not a good sign at all. I hope she ends up being okay. While you're waiting to take her to the vet, call 24 hr pet advice hotlines and give your cat lots of love and comfort. She will be okay. I hope you all the best with your cat and when you say your cat is your best friend, I know exactly what you mean. My cat means the world to me and she is the bestest friend I could ever have :) Good luck. Stay strong.

You need to call your vet now not wait until tomorrow. There could be a serious problem with your cat and it needs to be addressed now. Most vets are like doctors and give you an emergency number where you can reach them.

Blood is never a good sign. Most areas have Vet Emergency Hotlines that you can call for advice and 24hr vet referrals. Vet offices that are closed Sundays will often leave a recording directing you who to call while they are closed. I'd do that ASAP to ease your mind (and your kitty's tummy.)
Good luck
