I was just busted for possesion of marijuana. I was not arrested and only given a ticket. I am 24 and this is my first offense. Will this affect my credit rating and/or my ability to get loans? Thanks.

It has no effect on your credit rating

Actually, it will if you ever try to get an FHA or a VA loan. (If you are eligible for a VA loan).

If you have ever been convicted of a drug-related charge, FHA will not insure the loan.

If you ever try to go to college, it will also bar you from receiving Federal Student Loans, and force you to take out high-interest private loans.

PS: These questions are on the loan application and if you lie about it, it's punishable by up to a $10K fine or 5 years in prison.

No, it will not hurt your credit score. Criminal activity is not attached to a consumer credit report; however, it may show up on a complete background + credit check. Those look like normal credit reports, but they contain a lot more information.

it will not affect ur credit, provided u pay the ticket, or appear in court on time, as per the ticket's orders.

if u fail to appear, or fail to pay the bail amount, then YES, it will be sent to collections, and then listed on ur credit report. It won't say marijuana possession on ur credit report, but will say something along the lines of failure to appear, civic code x.2.x4. or something like it.

Also, the bail amount sometimes doubles, or even triples if u fail to appear/pay on time.

Well it depends. Are you spending all your money on Marijuana and not paying off your bills? If not, your credit should be okay. Keep your bills paid and you'll have good credit which can save you money in a lot of different ways.

You may now be ineligable for certain government loans/grants for education. As for credit, if you stiff your dope dealer and he reports you to the credit bureaus as defaulting on a payment then you will see your credit score lower. JK, don't be silly.

It has nothing to do with your credit report at all. It probably won't even effect a background check for employment as you weren't arrested. Live and learn.....

No, there is no relationship between your credit report and your pot bust. You will be just fine. Why do you need a loan anyway.....Doritos with melted cheese and M&M's?

Nope, the ticket itself does not effect your credit. Good luck to you!

No, that has nothing to do with credit. It will show up an employment background check though.
