I don't think so.
I am going to Heaven to live eternally in beauty.
My Christianity is right for me and enriches my life.
Atheists are happy with their lives with no religion.
My opinion...
Atheists will say YES.
Religious people will say NO.
You know the answer already.

Yes, it is better to have no religion. I believe in God, but I am in no way religious because it is man made belief and opinions, and it is getting very corrupt nowadays.
In terms of athiests, I'm not going to disregard them, because they have good points in their views. The point in their belief is not to just doubt God just to be mean, but because of the fact that there is no solid proof that he is exist.
The problem with people that focus on the material is that don't believe in anything that goes beyong the 5 physical senses, and can't be proven by scientifical logic. However, people fail to realize that God is not here in the material world. Only through spirituality can he be contacted.
The problem is that religion is causing more and more people to doubt God than to acutally believe in him, because man made views are so biased, harmful, corrupt.
The only way out of this is to just tap into the soul level and feel the presence of God, because as long as you rely on man made views, you are doomed. and YES, ATHEISM is also a MAN MADE belief, so it is not exempt.
As for the bible. Not all of that is false, although a good bit of it has been changed from it's original form. However, even though mankind wanted to change parts of the bible and put his own thoughts in it, the original form had to come from somewhere. I doubt that people would just sit there for years writing stuff like that for the fun of it, or just for something to do. Around that time, mankind didn't have such great knowledge, so who else could those words have come from? GOD

Without a rudder, man is nothing more than a ship drifting hither and yon in a vast ocean of illusion.
An anchor is also needed when the ship has reached a certain destination.
I agree with the questioner that:
Man should not be taught what to think, but should be taught how to think!

Yes.
No.
Atheists have exactly the same problems as theists, they believe. Its not the religion that causes the problems it's the emotional component of belief. This emotional investment leads too closed mindedness and fanaticism. Being an agnostic is the only rational choice because the existence or nonexistence of god can not be proven.

Atheists are still -theists. What is the real difference between belief and disbelief? Don't they need each other? There are those who have faith, but not in any god or religion. If you "follow" a belief, are you free?

I am not an athiest, but I do not think Man is the center of the universe. Many people believe that by being Christian, they can escape mortality and know a larger truth...the fact is, we a relatively insignificant and short-lived...Many people cannot accept this truth and live in denial of what life really is...a gift to be enjoyed...not a period of transition to a fanciful place. 99% of all people who are not religious do not belong to any of the same "clubs"...they are not unified and do not get a newsletter on unreligious activities, they believe in logic more than any sort of faith....Is it better to have intelligence and use your mind or to be blissfully ignorant?

No. There is no foundation for that.
The fact of the matter is they are just as fearful, brainwashed and neurotic as any Christian, just in a different way.
A Christian has problems with nudity on cable TV or in the theaters.
An Atheist has problems with Christmas trees, Santa Clause, Chrimast Carols.
In short THE BOTH TAKE OFFENSE and BOTH STRIVE TO CENSOR
They are both evangelical and attempt to convert people to their ways.
Neither subscribe to a live and let live point of view.

YES. It doesnt cloud your judgement. You can be a dang good person without needing a book or a church to tell you Right from wrong. I dont use any such information in making decisions on how to treat people. I use the manners that my parents taught me AT HOME not in a church.

Possibly. We don't have the terrible fear of being tortured forever for displeasing a deity, that's for sure. Since religion is based on faith, and faith supports every religion equally well, believers must live in constant terror having chosen the wrong god and ending up in some other god's version of hell.

I don't think that someone is better off than anyone else based on religion, or lack of religion.
