I have an old tv , in my menu i go to set up channels and it saids Auto programming. What does this do?

It is searching for a valid signal automatically, and saving any channels that have valid content. Then later, you can go back through the channels it found, and delete the ones you don't want.

For instance, if you are not Spanish speaking, you probably don't care about the stations that don't speak your language, and so you can delete them from the list. If you don't want to hear the wacko televangelists, the you can delete those stations. if you could care less about C-Span, you can delete those stations. if you don't want to see over-ly excited women and men trying to sell you stupid products over the tv, you can delete the home shopping networks.
