Read the labels on your food and pay attention to portion size. Carbs aren't necessarily the bad guys, the overall calorie count is the important part. If you cut out all of your carbs, but you eat a juicy steak instead you really aren't helping yourself.
There are a lot of good diet books out there. Try going to a bookstore and skimming through some of them. Avoid fad diets and try to stick with a good, well balanced meal plan that cuts back on calories.
Be careful and don't burn yourself out though, start slow and just change a few things at a time. If you bring on a whole lifestyle change you will lose interest and start yo-yo dieting.

Also try eating more lean meat or no meat ( but still get your protein )

Avoid these: White rice, potatoes, bananas, all sweetened fruit juices, most of the colas and sodas etc., icecreams, sweetened yogurt, cookies, cakes....
All that stuff that tastes good is unfortunately high in carbs (carbohydrates, esp. simple sugars). And if you meant calories, avoid saturated fats too.
A difficult journey, isn't it?

They list all carb counts. If the item is not listed, consider it a NO.
