I'm using Windows XP Pro. I want to make that folder write protected cuz i dont want someone install softwares o my PC. Never mind the PROGRAM FILES folder.

You'll have to set up a guest account that has limited access for that. I think this means they won't be able to install programs too, but it doesn't look like you're worried about that.

Of course, with your own Administrator account, you should allow yourself to be able to do everything, but just don't give anybody your password to that account, and they will be limited to what they can do in the other accounts you set up.

User Accounts is located in the Control Panel.

You can right click on in and select Read Only ... but I dont think this is a good idea. Some program need to be able to write in this folder so you could end up in a bit of a trouble if you do that.

The best way would be to se the security so only system and administrator can write in this folder. You would then have to use a non-administrator account for your day-to-day task. To be able to set the security on a folder, you need to right click on t and go to the security pages.... doenst work on XP home edition.

It is really not good to do it! Because your OS relies on the files in the System Folder (normally C:\Windows\). Even if you try and find some way to do it your system will crash for sure because it cant write values in to the system folder!
