Even if someone eats well balanced meals they are still going to be lacking vitamins and minerals due to the over use of agricultural land. Even organic only means no chemical pesticides or fertilizers but the land can still be very low quality.
I would take a good multi vitamin-mineral supplement daily. You want one that is not a little round pill but one that comes in packets that have several capsules inside.
If you have a Costco near you they have a good Kirkland brand. Actually I believe that they have 3 or four different versions. I have read a lot about them and they are high quality.
You could also look into health juices. I happen to drink Sensatiafruit (as also my family does) and for us we have found it to be the best one out there, but you may have another favorite. When you drink a product like this it easier for the vitamins and nutrients to be absorbed by the body and you also get micro nutrients that can't be found in capsules.

'Enough is as good as a feast.' There is no advantage in exceeding the RDA of any vitamin. More cannot be utilised and may be toxic. So provided you eat a balanced diet taking excess of any vitamin is pointless.
Water soluble vitamins are just peed out. Though there is a concern that doses of vitamin C of 500mgs or more a day may be carcinogenic.
Fat soluble vitamins accumulate. Vitamin D becomes toxic to the kidneys and Vitamin A to the eyes.

Im pretty healthy but I take 1 multivitamin and 1 cod liver oil capsule every morning. I don't get sick anymore and feel very energetic. All the vitamins and Minerals are important so its best to make sure you're getting enough in your diet by supplementing too.

Honestly, there are so many of them out there but what I've found to be the best one of them all is a new vitamin supplement called VGF+ by Prograde Nutrition.

take a Multi vitamin every day to replenish what you lose. The two most important vitamins would be B & C.

You say only one vitamin - must be VitC as helps with stress and pollution and you barely get enough even if you have a healthy diet.

just take a daily multi vitamin for adults. to test it's absorbability, drop it in a cup of vinegar and it should dissolve withing 30-45 minutes. if it doesn't, your brand is crappy and you should switch to another.
